This book has a lot going on, Family secrets, family disconnection, death, lies, a missing child, a creepy house, a possible stalker...
Once all the twists and turns are revealed the big question is Will Lowri accept all that has been revealed and go along with it all? Or will she rebel against all she has learned and walk away from it all?
A brilliant dark, twisty tale of family secrets.

Book Review!

I loved this book!

I loved the characters and the storyline in this book.

This is a great crime novel but also a novel about colonisation impacts on the Maori people.

This book hooked me in just with the blurb...and it more than lived up to my expectations.

This is a book you don't want to miss!

Ever read a book where the main character hooks you in and you want to read more but frustrates you so much you want to yell at her and stop reading?
That for me is Iris. She is so topsy turvy.
There was a lot going on in this book. I felt maybe too much going on, therefore some things didn't make sense to me.
I still enjoyed reading this book and it was very quick to read.

This book is about life... about facing hardships, growth, secrets, love, fear and laughter. Through stories of various characters that intertwine and through Connie's eyes, we see life in a small Australian town in a war era.

Connie is seen as different and someone who doesn't fit in with her loved ones. She is not given any real support and unfortunately she pays a deep price for her isolation.

I wish Amazon would get with the times and allow book reviews for books that aren't published yet.
I can't help hype up the book because it's not published here yet. 😕

Well, haven't I been missing out by not reading a Lucy Foley book before this one.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Paris Apartment with its narrative of the one incident/one group of people being told by multiple points of view over a small timeframe.

This book really hooked me in.

The Last Reunion introduces a story that is totally new to me, a group of women, working under the acronym WASBIES in Burma during World War II. These women bought food and other necessities to the forces fighting the war.

The book reunion of the women is written in 1999 and they have to work few a few issues pertaining to their friendship and an item that was thought lost during the war.

This book is dark and twisted, I really enjoyed it.
I was completely hooked in by this story.
This book may be hard for some people to read, as it does contain child abuse. It delves into the repercussions of this abuse both physically and mentally, of the characters as both children and as adults.
A thrilling story from beginning to end, with a few wonderful twists to the story.

The idea of the plot was very interesting to me so I really wanted to read this one.

Unfortunately, I didn't like any of the characters. Beth seemed like a very weak, self centered woman. Tom was a controlling, male chauvinist and Adam was a push-over.

It's a bit of a slow read without much tension and most of the plot twists were quite predictable to me unfortunately.

The Mermaid from Jeju by Sumi Hahn is published tomorrow, 8th December 2020.

A beautiful debut about a young woman's life in Korea in 1944 and how her experiences and choices in life resonate over decades.

Ok, I bailed on this...

I just don't care how President Snow became President Snow...there, I said it.

Traci1 I didn't like it as much as I expected to. It was ok, but nothing I'd reread. To be fair, I listened to it on audio, and the narrator was terrible. 4y
LittleMummyMe @Traci1 I was listening to an audio book too... I got about 3/4 through and then it was due back at the library and I decided not to renew the loan. 4y

Or should I read them in order to get the most out of them?

I liked this book but, unfortunately, I didn‘t love it. It is very well written, as all Gill Paul books are but this one did not leave me wanting more of this story.

It would be an enjoyable book if you have any interest in Jackie O or Maria Callas‘ stories or the way Onassis lived. I don‘t think you should pick it up if you are after a romance or a love story.

I really liked this novella. Medusa's story, told by Medusa. With a bit of an original twist on the story...Meduca isn't portrayed just as 'the vilian' as she is in so many stories.

It's a nice quick enjoyable read. The cover is beautiful. 💜

I did enjoy reading this book but many times throughout this book, I found not much was happening in the story or their just wasn‘t enough character development.
Unfortunately, this book failed to have me in its grip most of the time and I didn‘t care much for the characters. 🙈 I didn‘t find myself eager to pick it up and continue it. So I was in a funny kind of limbo, where I did and also did not enjoy this book.
Im sure plenty will 💜 it.

This book was enjoyable enough to read but unfortunately I found it to be under written...almost like its a YA noel.
It doesn't start where Phillip and Elizabeth meet, and it ends right before the wedding ceremony...
We read about their 7 year long 'relationship' where Elizabeth has decided she wants Phillip and that is that, she finds ways to be with him.
Phillip comes across as if he just wants to marry Elizabeth to better his finances.
