What happens when you're 16 and decide to go to a remote hipster Quaker school because your crush said he'd be there, but he bails & leaves you there alone? You put on your big girl boots and make the most of it! I've read reviews that say our MC, Flora, grows & matures over the course of this book, so for now I'm laughing at her immaturity as she struggles to leave her vanity at the door & settle in.
Loved this book! It's an epistolary novel which is my favorite format and uses a wide variety of documents - letters, email, news clippings...and covers a wide range of issues. It's a YA novel that explores gender, sex, identity, materialism. All while staying light and quirky... but still getting some significant points across. So good!
