Our non-binding, not compulsory, postal survey arrived. Even though it's none of my business who people marry, and it pisses me off that the govt is using these tactics, my family is ticking the yes box, and hoping like crazy enough Australians make this happen. #letsgetthisdone #sayyes

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Good luck! The world seems to be a bit crazy when it comes to individual rights at the moment (and trying to deny them). I have my fingers crossed for you, and that maybe, maybe there's a better way to change a country's course. Maybe the write in will be overwhelming and it could just be easily seen as a normal, obvious policy change. 7y

This is not a bookish interpretation of the prompt, but I am so damn fed up with Australia's #quest for marriage equality. Right now we have a non-binding postal vote on whether to allow it. WTF?! As predicted a whole bunch of "no" voters are scuttling out from under their rocks to campaign. It just makes me so sad and so angry. So here's a photo of my beautiful boy, urging Australians to vote "yes!". Let's get this done already. #FallIntoReading

drokka Is that rainbow made of shipping containers? How clever. And yes, like many others, I assumed Australia to have already had equality of marriage. I was gutted to hear that it wasn't so. Hopefully there's a huge 'yes' turn out and that Parliament follows through. 7y

LazyOwl I totally agree. I'm ashamed at how long it's taken us just to get this far, it's a pretty half hearted effort from our politicians 7y

Notafraidofwords There's a vote that's happening for that? Is it looking like people will vote no. It's crazy , I though Australia always had marriage equality. 7y

MrsMalaprop @Notafraidofwords Sadly (and embarrassingly) we do not have marriage equality ?. The polls show at least 70% support for it, but our government will not do what's right and change the law. I believe Australia is the only English speaking country in the world that does not have marriage equality. Let's hope we get a clear "yes" from the postal survey and our politicians get on and do their job. 7y
