I‘ve seen mixed reviews, but I loved this book. It‘s a twisty thriller set in a remote village in the Dolomite mountains of northern Italy. The setting is just as much of a character as any of the people, and it is a menacing presence, and I found the writing smooth and engaging. 4 1/2 stars.

I received an uncorrected proof of this novel at Bouchercon 2017. And hoo boy I hope it was corrected! It definitely needed a copyedit. The story itself was OK; I liked the setting and the mountain rescue aspect, but I found Salinger annoying at times (particularly when talking about sex). It also got a bit far-fetched at the end.

Slow-burning mystery about a man who becomes obsessed with the unsolved murders of three young people in 1985. Set in the Italian Dolomites, the story has a mounting sense of almost claustrophobic dread, as it moves towards what really happened. Rating: 4/5.
