For the Love of Licorice
For the Love of Licorice: 60 Licorice-Inspired Candies, Desserts, Meals, and More | Elisabeth Johansson
4 posts | 1 to read
For the Love of Licorice contains 60 exciting and delicious recipes for everything from licorice fudge and salt licorice ice cream to licorice Tosca cake, licorice-marinated lamb, and licorice liquer. These recipes are proof that there are no boundaries to how this trendy and healthy root can be used in food and sweets. Along with recipes, this book also provides facts about the worlds most delicious root and what it can be used for: raw licorice licorice granules licorice powder and salty licorice. Its interesting reading that proves licorice not only tastes good, but that its also good for you! Skyhorse Publishing, along with our Good Books and Arcade imprints, is proud to publish a broad range of cookbooks, including books on juicing, grilling, baking, frying, home brewing and winemaking, slow cookers, and cast iron cooking. Weve been successful with books on gluten-free cooking, vegetarian and vegan cooking, paleo, raw foods, and more. Our list includes French cooking, Swedish cooking, Austrian and German cooking, Cajun cooking, as well as books on jerky, canning and preserving, peanut butter, meatballs, oil and vinegar, bone broth, and more. While not every title we publish becomes a New York Times bestseller or a national bestseller, we are committed to books on subjects that are sometimes overlooked and to authors whose work might not otherwise find a home.

Salty licorice candy/sweets - to all of you who haven't heard of it nor tried it, you did not miss out on anything

See those kids? Exactly what I looked like. The worst so far: Plopp - Finnish chocolate bar with salty licorice "paste"??? Inside. My sneaky British friend John brought it from holiday and let me try.
@Martta is this still on the market in Finland?

CouronneDhiver 😝 yuck! 7y
Moray_Reads You're so wrong. I LOVE liquorice 7y
MicheleinPhilly Salty licorice is the best! Whenever we go to Sweden I buy it by the kilo. The Finnish candies are totally gross though. 7y

queerbookreader Licorice is one of the most revolting flavors on the ENTIRE PLANET thank you for validating my hatred of it 7y
tournevis I love love salty licorice! All good! 7y
Martta "Plopp" does not ring a bell. I think it might be from Denmark maybe? @Kalalalatja might know? Finland has a strong tradition of salty candy both liquorice and salmiakki but I think maybe some of these might be from other countries as well. I think at least Denmark has a strong love for salty candy also. The one in the middle in the left side we have in Finland. We call it "Noitapilli" = "Witch's whistle" and it's delicious! ? 7y
Kalalalatja I looooove salty liqourice, but I get that it is an aquired taste. We have the two candies on the left - djunglevrål and heksehyl (jungle screams and witches wail). @Martta I haven't heard of Plopp, but you are absolutely right, Denmark loves its salty candy 7y
Martta @Kalalalatja Maybe Plopp is from Norway then? Or might be even from Sweden since it's mixed with chocolate and that makes it less strong than many of Finnish versions of salty candy. 🤔 7y
OrangeMooseReads Eww 🤢 I like sweet and salty flavors but this looks and sounds gross 7y
julesG @Moray_Reads @MicheleinPhilly @tournevis @Kalalalatja @Martta Don't get me wrong, I love licorice, but not the salty one. 😉 - Martta, my friend did a tour of Scandinavia, so he might have got it in Norway or Sweden. Still, it was not my cup of tea. 😵 7y
Martta Yes, in my experience you really need to know what sort of chocolate you mix salmiakki or liqourice with. I've tasted some awesome candy with both of them in it but you really need to know which brand to buy. Not all of them work well together. 7y
ErikasMindfulShelf I love salty candy! My parents always bring me some from Sweden when they come visit. 7y

I thought I‘d take a moment to let everyone know that licorice is my favorite. Because I don‘t like to see all 18 (and counting) of you who dislike licorice not knowing what to do with your licorice stashes, I‘d like to let you know that I do take licorice donations of all varieties. For the love of licorice, pass it on over to me! ❤️🖤❤️
