Over the years I‘ve owned several copies of Anne‘s Diary; it‘s a books near and dear to my heart. Her diary was there when I needed it growing up. I can‘t wait to revisit Anne‘s words this fall. #books #annefrank #lookwhatsonmyshelves

May it be so ☮️🕊✌🏼

GingerAntics I certainly hope it happens sooner than later. 💙💙💙 What a sweet young woman she was. It‘s truly a global loss that we didn‘t get to see the amazing person she would have become. 2y

Anne Frank would be 91 today.

Martin Luther King would have been 91 this year

Ruby Bridges IS 65

Not long long ago history

We need to do better. ✌🏻

Catherine_Willoughby Frank & King born in the same year 😯 4y
Emilymdxn This! I was having a conversation with my dad yesterday about how many things I was taught about as distant history happened within my parents lifetimes - apartheid didn't end until the year before my parents got married. There's so much stuff I was taught to see as the distant past when it's so immediate still! 4y
TheBookHippie @Emilymdxn I teach this every year to students . Every single time SHOCK. @Catherine_Willoughby 4y

Amandajoy My grandmother turned 92 this year (and she‘s still alive and kickin‘) so “history” really wasn‘t that long ago. 4y
jewright Anne Frank shook my world. I remember ugly sobbing a lot at the end of her diary because she was so hopeful, and I knew what happened. 4y
Bookgoil I just reread Anne Frank‘s Diary of a Young Girl this year and right when the lockdown began and it gave me so much perspective. (edited) 4y
Hooked_on_books I don‘t think I realized that about Anne. It‘s startling. She‘s younger than all my grandparents, three of whom lived into their 90s. 4y

Omg, I loved it so much. When I read, I feel like I am in another world and I get really emotional. When I read this book, I cried a little at the end. It is probably on my top fav books!

Was humbled by both the book and then recently by visiting the Anne Frank house in the Netherlands. The book is heart breaking yet inspirational. The house is exactly the same. The tour was silent and not one person took a picture. So respectful and mindful.

KellyHunsakerReads What am I looking at here? 6y
Literary_Siren @Hunsakermountain the hidden doorway to the attic the Frank family and their friends hid/lived in until they were discovered and shipped off to the nazi death camps. (edited) 6y
amb It's the bookcase that hid the stairs to the attic where Anne Frank and her family hid. Totally amazing 6y

jb72 I have the book, but haven‘t read it yet. I keep starting it and putting it down. I guess because I know how it ends so sadly. 6y
Whimsical.Curiosity @Hunsakermountain Hi there! This is the actual hidden entrance into the home of Anne Frank. It was hidden by a book case during WWll during German occupied Amsterdam. 6y
Whimsical.Curiosity @amb @jb72 just staring at it makes me emotional. It's an absolutely amazing story. It's the journey to the end that you've gotta read 😉 6y
WhatThePuck @jb72 there is still so much inspiration to be had by this book even with the results of its ending. 6y
tracey38 Such a wonderful and heartbreaking book. That's amazing you went to visit the house. It makes me emotional just looking at it too. 6y
Whimsical.Curiosity @tracey38 it was a very unique and special experience. I'd recommend it for anyone. ❤️ 6y

On this date in 1945, the U.S. Army liberated 31,601 prisoners from the Nazi concentration camp in Dachau, Germany. As the world continues to spin wildly, and sometimes feels out of control, I think a lot about personal responsibility, and the legacy I want to leave behind for future generations...Compassion, integrity, and acceptance for people whose views may differ from my own are some of the things I strive to bring to the table...💕

Nute These are needed qualities. These are qualities that should be the rule and not the exception for humans. We should all be determined to be in full possession of each one. I look forward to building a ‘Litsy Friendship‘ with you.😊 6y
Vertabrain @Nute I agree completely. People need to embrace the truth of our shared humanity. Fear is the enemy, and it breeds contempt and a feeling of separation that does not truly exist. I look forward to getting to know you too! 6y
