Their love is forbidden, but their hearts arent listening to rules and regulations Lieutenant Dustin Strauss is a reformed man. No longer a twentysomething hell-raiser, hes his SEAL teams new XOand a man with a secret. Or seven. Hes kept his bisexual identity under wraps for years, along with his kinky side and a fondness for the military-themed semianonymous hookup website Joe4Joe. His latest chat buddy is more than a sexy online distractiontheyre taking their very not-safe-for-work relationship into real time. Petty Officer Wes Lowe has a smart mouth, a take-charge attitude and an uncanny ability for making things go boom. The life of an enlisted man isnt always enough to satisfy him, but one wild, no-questions-asked weekend with his online love comes close. When a transfer order comes in, Wes feels ready and centered. Hell make a good impression on his new SEAL team and keep his growing feelings for Dustin on the down low. But as they log more time online and some very real emotions surface, Dustin and Wes struggle to pretend theyre just a harmless fling. And when his commander introduces Dustin to his teams newest member, theyre in for the shock of a lifetimeand a crushing disappointment: their difference in ranks means even a friendship without sexual contact could end their navy careers for good. With their hearts on the line, Dustin and Wes may not survive their next mission, let alone find a way toward a future together.

I love it when two characters "fight their growing attraction" (as the jacket copy cliche goes), because you KNOW they're gonna give in. I love it even more when that attraction is grounded in genuine friendship and a shared passion for kink, as it very much is here. Albert does a great job of deepening their romance while acknowledging the serious repercussions if they're caught breaking the officer/enlisted man anti-fraternization rules.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #romantsy This review is definitely gonna get continued in the comments. Dustin & Wes meet on a online hookup site for military types & have been chatting etc for months without names, branches of service etc when they meet up in DC while they are both in the area. Things go well but a month later Wes who is enlisted is transferred to team where Dustin is the XO. They try repeatedly to break things off because of fraternization rules.

Christy2318 This book was very different to the slow burn of the other book I read in this series. LOTs of very descriptive sex. The XO is into submission & Wes likes being in control. I‘ve seen it described as BDSM but i didn‘t think it was quite in that category. There were a few places where the sex was a little detailed for my tastes but it was not gratuitous. Their sexual compatibility was equally important to their emotional compatibility. 6y
Christy2318 Mostly it was really hot. Bonus points for the audio because a large part of the sexual relationship between them has to do with Wes‘ voice & commanding tone. The narrator was fabulous. I liked how different this was from Squared Away because it was much more like she is writing about real people vs writing to a template. 6y
Christy2318 I‘ve been reading romance for 35+ years & I‘ve been reading a lot of MM lately because the sub genre generally seems to do a good job of writing multidimensional male characters. While I love a good alphahole story is nice to see stories where someone can be strong and also vulnerable. This was an excellent example of that because you don‘t get more alpha than SEALS. 6y
Reggie Well, I thought I had other books planned. Lolol honestly, thanks, I‘ve never heard of this or quite a few of the others you‘ve posted about. 6y
Christy2318 @Reggie HA! It‘s always fun to mess up someone else‘s reading plans. 😁 I wouldn‘t have known about all the great MM and other romances not put out by the big publishers if not for a great romance group I belong to on FB. 6y

Finally, some time outdoors on this 31° day! I've got tasty grub, the last of the champagne, and a military BDSM novel to seriously dig into.

It's cloudy out, too. Hot & cloudy is my forever fave.

I meant to go to a bookstore event tonight, but I never got around to firming up the plans on account of the whole cancer scare thing. When I had some celebratory champagne after supper, the whole idea fell by the wayside in favour of bubbles and a Taiwanese drama, followed by ice cream, mango mimosas, and a military romance.

josie281 @Joanne1 making flash cards while audiobooking isn‘t hard. If I were to be studying them then I would have had issues! 6y
