Ugh. No.
Misogynistic crap. All sex & drugs, with no Rock n Roll. DNF.

This could, however, be an interesting drinking game.
Take a shot every time he says "chicks", "smack" and "dude" or every time he shoots up or mentions "some chick" he nails.
Check yourself into rehab by chapter 4.

jamield1911 @fanbookart he's very sexist. I was bored of reading the graphic details of his sexual conquests very early on. I believe he thought bragging about his orgies and "chicks" made him seem interesting, I found it to be quite the opposite! I'll still listen to his music though! ? 2y

Born Michael Coletti in Cleveland Ohio, Adler was the drummer for Guns N Rose's until 1990 when he was fired for heroin addiction...
He was on Dr Drew's Celebrity Rehab, and was inducted into RnR Hall of Fame in 2012.
I liked this book, there were no surprises....the title sums it up.....he lived the life of sex & drugs, more sex, more drugs....until he crashed.
Recommended!

If you're going to read this, read it with no expectations. Read it for the sheer love of gritty rock 'n roll. Read it for the love of Guns 'n Roses. If you do that, surely you can overlook his attitude or crudeness and just immerse yourself in Adler's torrid affairs with G'nR and life. I loved this book, but you may hate it. It's pure sex, drugs and rock 'n roll. Expect nothing less.🤘🏻☠🌹

Guilty pleasure reading...

I just read the sample from it and kept on reading. I'm not saying it's amazing, but it's like watching a train wreck.

I just can't finish this. I was expecting Sex, drugs, and Rock n' Roll, but it's really very little of the music and a whole lot of the former two.
I wasn't expecting well written, and it's not. But I just can't anymore with orgy this and snort and shoot up that. Sorry Steven. I'll still listen to your music though.

Soubhiville @Prairiegirl_reading oh really? I'll look into it. I was feeling jaded about rock memoirs, after also trying to read Stephen Tyler's (horrendous!). But it's good to know there's one at least worth reading. 7y
Prairiegirl_reading @soubhiville I couldn't get through Steven Tyler's either. I have read all the other GnR books though and Duff's is the best so far. I've still got about 100 pages but I'm really enjoying it. I thought I'd read it to get ready for seeing them next week!

Started this over breakfast. I loved GNR as a teen, so I'm hoping this is an interesting read. I chose it for the #LitsyReadingChallenge, for the music or theater prompt. It's one of my final 2 challenge books for the year!

Only read this due to being a huge GNR. Mr. Adler spent too much time blaming his band members for his addiction issue and instead of good insights on the music they made together he was more concerned about bragging about sexual conquests.
