Margaret Parker never intended to turn outlaw. But after being run off her ranch by a greedy cattleman, leaving her destitute with others depending on her, she has to make a living either holding a gun or lying on her back. For Margaret, the choice is easy... and with her makeshift family, she leads a series of successful heists across the West. According to the newspapers and businessmen, however, they don't exist. The headlines credit their robberies to male gangs - and this anonymity gives them cover that allows them to thrive. But when the women are betrayed and one of their own is nearly killed, Margaret and her gang seek revenge, and in the process, ensure that The Parker Gang's name will be remembered forever. While I‘m not sure how I missed this one when it was published nearly 5 years ago, I‘m sure glad to have read it now. A proudly feminist western with great representation (Black, Asian, LGBTQ), great characters, and a great story! I loved it!

I just saw this in a Book Riot email. I really enjoyed the tagged book last year and actually think it could be even better as a show. 🤞🏻

Here are today‘s random picks from the library shelves. 🙂 I do not have a problem. I may never even get to these. I know I have had the tagged book out at least once before, possibly Six Four also. 😬

A feminist western, in epistolary format? YES, PLEASE. So great, very inclusive, emotional and surprising. All the stars.

I have been spending this Saturday afternoon with this Western style historical fiction story set in the 19th century... I'm still not sure what to make of the writing style, but it's interesting to see female outlaws in the spotlight for a change.

A book about a gang of female outlaws that is everything I hoped it would be- exciting, empowering, diverse, and full of surprises. I loved these characters and adored this book.

Just finished the ARC of this book and was blown away. It is a great novel with compelling characters, well paced action and powerful emotions set in a well drawn western setting. It has everything you want from a western, outlaws, cattle rustlers, lawmen, ex-slaves and great shoot outs all centred around an unforgettable cast of female protagonists. Even the conceit and structure is original and deftly executed. Loved this book.

"I‘m representing women in Westerns the way men have been represented for 100 years: Women are the center of the story. Women drive the plot." Melissa Lenhardt's definition of "feminist Western" will rock your Sunday & whet your appetite for her upcoming novel HERESY -- I, for one, can't wait to get my hands on it!
