FIRST IN A NEW MILITARY SCIENCE FICTION SERIES "I was on a dead ship on an unknown planet with three trainees freshly graduated into the Imperial Service. I tried to look on the bright side." He is the last to wake. The label on his sleeper pad identifies him as an admiral of the Evagardian Empire--a surprise as much to him as to the three recent recruits now under his command. He wears no uniform, and he is ignorant of military protocol, but the ship's records confirm he is their superior officer. Whether he is an Evagardian admiral or a spy will be of little consequence if the crew members all end up dead. They are marooned on a strange world, their ship's systems are failing one by one--and they are not alone.

Four people wake from stasis, the narrator who is surprised to be an Admiral and three recent graduates from the Imperial academy. All confused at being awake in a empty ship on a desolate world. Mostly a survival story though the "Admiral" is very sketchy about who he is.

I totally got caught up in grad school and forgot to post my #SFFSwap goodies from @Michollio! The books all look great, and the mug is so cute! I am taking some of the tea with me to my all-day grad school class tomorrow. 😊 And the wrapping it all came in was adorable! Thank you!

Excellent science fiction suspense and adventure. Promising start to a series. I just started reading Book 2, so thought I would give the first book, read in my pre-Litsy days, some ❤️

What a fun read! Kept me in suspense for the entire read and I can't recall a single moment where it got bogged down by pages and pages of exposition. I got just what I needed to give the story some ground to run around on. It'll be fun to see where (who I assume is) the main protagonist will go from here; I'd be fairly disappointed if it was nowhere. Think pre-"Firefly" meets "Alien" crossed with a team-building version of "The Martian".
