Anna Pigeon is working on 2 cases and getting beat up in the process. 1 is the murder of an abusive man (and he didn‘t go down easily and 2 is the cyber stalking of a friend‘s teenager. Fairly fast paced and entertaining but I had difficulty in believing the craziness of one individual 🤷🏻‍♀️

5. I was pleased when a book I‘d already started reading was announced as the February selection for the mystery book club at the library, but last night I realized I can‘t go to the meeting. I might finish it anyway, or more likely I‘ll return it and try again later. ⬇️

Anna Pigeon has been to many parts of the #USA for her job, but so far there hasn‘t been a story set in Nevada. 🤣 #letstraveljuly

Although I love Nevada Barr's Ranger Anna Pigeon series, this one was a "meh" for me. The story was focused on other characters and did not focus on the national park it was based in.

Any fellow Litsy peeps in love with the 'By the Book' podcast with Kristin Meinzer and Jolenta Greenburg?

They read a popular self-help book and follow the advice in said book for 2 whole weeks. Then they describe their experiences, discuss the pros and cons, and weigh in on whether or not they would recommend the book to others.
I'm slightly addicted to them..I listened to all 3 seasons in a week!

This was my first Anna Pigeon book and I thought it was alright but wasn‘t blown away. It was set in Acadia National Park and I was hoping there would be more background on the setting than there was. It was also a little more violent than I was expecting. I may try again though with an earlier book in the series as I like the premise of a mystery series starring a National Park Ranger. As a side note, Barbara Rosenblat was a great narrator.

What an interesting and captivating book! I actually really enjoyed all the different perspectives, and I thought it added a lot to this book! For me the pacing was good, I didn't feel like there was ever a time where the plot lagged, which was very enjoyable. Overall a good mystery / thriller book.

I definitely enjoyed this book, but I love Nevada Barr for 2 reasons: 1) Anna Pigeon, 2) her books are steeped in whatever place they are set. There was little of Anna in this book and, despite having the gorgeous Acadia to work with, it could have taken place anywhere.

Protagonist Anna Pigeon is one of my longest standing literary friends, since her first appearance in Track of the Cat ('94). This latest, set in Acadia National Park, was a solid mystery (two, actually) but didn't feature enough of the park OR Anna! I think I still prefer her older titles...
