Day 17 of #GratefulReads is #ThoughtYouWouldLikeButDidnt and I have to go with Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine. I know a lot of people liked it but I really didn‘t. #unpopularopinion @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620

OriginalCyn620 Oh, I loved this one! 4w

OriginalCyn620 No! I loved this one! 😂 4w
Crimson613 Maybe these aren't your type of books? 😆 I remember you also didn't like Gone Girl? (Or was it just the MC you didn't like?) 4w
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Crimson613 it‘s the mc I think!! 4w

Readswithcoffee I really, really disliked this book. I finished it, but only gave it one star ⭐️ 4w
REPollock I hated this book. One where I literally wished for the hours of my life back I spent reading it. 4w
mydearwatson I liked it, and I love psychological thrillers, but I‘m a little tired of MCs that are constantly drinking. I don‘t care that they drink; it‘s just an overdone thing. 4w
CaitlinR Her 2nd is even more disappointing. 4w
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Readswithcoffee I‘m not sure I would give it that!! Lol 4w
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @REPollock me too!!!!! Omg!!! 4w
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @mydearwatson I agree! I have The Woman in the Window and I‘ve heard it‘s similar... 4w
Hooked_on_books I love this type of book usually but found this one way overhyped. I wasn‘t impressed. I feel the same way about Riley Sager. 4w
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @CaitlinR was that Into The Water with 75 characters?! 😫 4w
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Hooked_on_books I‘ve only read Final Girls, but I have his others... 4w
ephemeralwaltz Uurgh i hated it 😂😂 4w
Susanita Yeah I bailed on this one pretty early. She seemed like a hot mess. 4w
ferskner YES! I don't get the love for this at all. 4w
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @ferskner me either!!! She WAS a train wreck!!! 4w

#thoughtyouwouldlikebutdidnt #gratefulreads read this a few months ago and it was ok. Not my favorite which is a shame cause I love foxes but this just didn‘t hit the mark for me.

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Pretty cover 💜 4w
Sace I couldn't resist putting it on hold at the library. 4w
OriginalCyn620 Love that cover, though! And I love foxes too! 🦊 4w

#ThoughtYouWouldLikeButDidnt

I started this book the first week of this month but I have not been able to get into. I just don't connect with the MC. I shelved for now. I may try again and see it I can get a little further.

OriginalCyn620 👍🏻📚 4w
AutumnRLS I went back and forth with this one between a pick and a so-so rating. I think I would have liked it better if I'd gone in knowing nothing. I really struggled getting into it so you are definitely not alone on this one. 4w
TheSpineView @AutumnRLS That's good to know. So many loved this book. If I can't get into after another 20 or 30 pages I am just going to send it to the DNF pile. 4w

BookNAround I didn‘t love this one. I read a third of it, set it down, and ignored it for months. Finally pushed myself to finish it but was pretty underwhelmed. 4w
AutumnRLS @TheSpineView life's too short and there are so many good books. DNF and send it along to someone who might love it. No book shame. ❤ 4w
TheSpineView @AutumnRLS Excellant advice!😊 4w
TheSpineView @BookNAround For now it is sitting on my night stand collecting dust 4w

#ThoughtYouWouldLikeButDidnt - How did the quality of Harris‘s writing plummet so far between books? I got this on release day, but with Clarice practically unrecognizable from the likable character she was before, the entire second act of the book taking almost 100 pages to get remotely interesting, and the worst, most ludicrous cliffhanger ending I‘ve ever read (which still hasn‘t been resolved), this was a total disappointment!

MoonWitch94 This is my favorite review 😂😂 4w
MicheleinPhilly HA! I bought this on release day too and read it while staying in some Motel 6 in San Diego. By myself. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Gosh 21 year old me was DUMB. 4w
ljuliel 😂 4w

DaveGreen7777 @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Thank you, Misty! I try! 😁 4w
EadieB @DaveGreen7777 Very funny! 4w
Librarybelle Great review! 😂 4w
DaveGreen7777 @Eadie Thank you! 😊 4w
DaveGreen7777 @Librarybelle Why, thank you! 😁 4w
LibrarianRyan I have heard so many people say that. And that the movie changed so much stuff because they had to. I remember reading the Jodi foster didn't come back as Clarice because she hated book 2 and where her character was going. 4w
DaveGreen7777 @LibrarianRyan Yeah, that spoke volumes when Jodie Foster turned down the sequel! The movie adaptation wasn‘t great, but they did at least tone down some of the negative elements from the book and they also changed the horrible ending. A two star movie for me, but that was still a better rating than I gave the book! 😂 4w
ValerieAndBooks I love your selfies 😄 4w
Branwen And the worst part is...his writing STILL hasn't gotten better! He came out with a new book a few months ago and I got it from the library, only to return it almost immediately because I only made it to like page 30 and it was so bad it made me cringe! 😝 4w
DaveGreen7777 @ValerieAndBooks Thank you! 😁 4w
DaveGreen7777 @Branwen Right?! After “Hannibal”, I couldn‘t even bring myself to pick up “Hannibal Rising” but I know more than one person who DNFed it and said it was even worse than “Hannibal”! And what I‘ve heard about “Cari Mora” is that it‘s so bad, it almost works as an unintentional comedy! Such a sad loss of talent by a once promising writer! 😞 4w

This was such a big disappointment to me, because after all the hype I just couldn't get into it. 😒 It was a bit too rapey, and I couldn't get into the characters at all. It just wasn't for me!

#gratefulreads #thoughtyouwouldlikebutdidnt @OriginalCyn620 @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

rachelm I felt the same 4w
SamAnne Yup. I don‘t know that I regretted reading it even though I did not find it “enjoyable” but I sure wouldn‘t recommend it to others and I don‘t plan to read future books in the trilogy. 4w
Carolhreads This book was huge dnf for me I couldn‘t finish it I took it out from the library thinking if it was good I would be able to fly through it but I hated it !!! The premise is interesting but poorly executed 4w

ljuliel Which book of Krueger‘s would you recommend ? I really liked this one. 4w
Blueberry I literally like everything else he had written. I am partial to his Cork O'Connor series though because it is set in northern Minnesota where I was born. It also has two of my favorite genres: mystery and Native American. 4w

This book taught me that I do not care for the stream of consciousness writing style. It‘s just not for me. Plus, there are no chapter breaks, which makes sense, but it still dry-humped my very last nerve.

Jerdencon I felt the same way - I can‘t read books like that! 4w
megnews I‘ve started this a couple times and only made it a few pages in. I‘m still hopeful SOMEDAY I‘ll be able to get into it. 4w
