jpmcwisemorgan @CocoReads There are really great authors to follow on Twitter for a wide range of reasons. I follow some just because they have interesting things to say. 6y

CocoReads @jpmcwisemorgan oh I know, I just don‘t really get twitter so I keep joining and then deactivating. But I always enjoy Stephen Kings tweets so if I reactivate it‘ll probably be all authors and musicians (which was why I got it on the first place lol). 6y

The author behind the #cockygate kerfuffle is suing the lawyer who wrote the rebuttal to the trademark, another author, & a publicist. The creator of the font involved is looking into his options because he can‘t afford a lawsuit. I‘ve seen a few posts expressing concern that Hopkins might not be ok & I‘m starting to lean in that direction. I certainly hope that she is ok & not in danger of harming herself or others.

jpmcwisemorgan There have been some videos that I have not seen that have led some people to express concern for Hopkins‘ mental well-being. When this all started a number of writers pointed out the importance of having people who could pull you back from these sorts of decisions & from the sounds of it, Hopkins doesn‘t have that kind of support. I hope that there can be a resolution that doesn‘t cause further harm. 6y

DGRachel She does seem like she might be a bit unhinged and rather than admit she‘s wrong, is attacking people with all (figurative) guns blazing. 6y

CocoReads Yes, it‘s all very bizarre. I‘ve only been loosely following it. She doesn‘t seem to have good advisers and I agree with @DGRachel in that she doesn‘t seem to be able to admit she‘s wrong. 6y

jpmcwisemorgan @DGRachel & @CocoReads She‘s doubling down in a way that‘s really not going to work for her. I mean, we all probably have something that we won‘t let go of but she seems to have disregarded all the great, calm, and polite explanations as why what she‘s doing is problematic. @Richryan52 You can TM a word but it‘s usually a very specific usage. She seems to have overreached her own TM too. 6y

jpmcwisemorgan @Richryan52 You could certainly try but it would be best to try with a very specific use - and in your example it would likely be part of a series title and you wouldn‘t be doing just one word, it would be the series title as a whole, and it might even be genre specific. That‘s a large part of what‘s going on with this TM attempt. (edited) 6y

jpmcwisemorgan @Richryan52 I know, you‘d think she‘d let it go but I guess she‘s chosen this as her hill to die on, so to speak. As for my quote, I‘ve been a Sherlock fan since I was a kid - kind of my gateway books, to be honest, because I read above my reading level as a kid. I watched the old TV episodes with my grandma too. 6y

jpmcwisemorgan @tpixie You‘re welcome! I don‘t want to clog up anyone‘s feed but I think there are some people sort of following along and I know not everyone used other forms of social media. It‘s an issue with broader implications so I think it‘s of interest to writers and readers. 6y

Instead they buy on impulse due to "bare-chested muscular males" on the covers.” 6y

CocoReads @tpixie and @jpmcwisemorgan slamming the readers indeed. I‘d like to chalk that up to being young but um, does she not realize if her readers abandon her, she‘ll need to find another line of work? I think I have one of her books on my kindle (because it was either free or cheap) but I haven‘t read it and really have no desire to do so now. 6y

I‘d never heard of her before this, but name recognition is not a good thing for her at the moment. I will certainly not be sampling her work. Now, Suzan Tisdale posted a video about this which inspired me to buy HER books. 6y
