Who Was Jane Austen?
Who Was Jane Austen? | Sarah Fabiny, Who Hq
4 posts | 3 read | 1 to read
Step into the world of Georgian England and learn more about the genteel life of this beloved author. Although Jane Austen's works were first published anonymously and brought her little personal recognition, today they are rarely out of print and have inspired movies, television shows and mini-series, literary anthologies, and many other adaptations all around the world. Her writingprincipally her five novelsis a critique of the British landed gentry at the end of the eighteenth century, and often a comment on the pursuit of a "good match" in matters of marriage. Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Mansfield Park, Emma, and Northhanger Abbey remain her most famous works. Who Was Jane Austen? reveals the life of this most private author.

If y'all haven't had the occasion to pick up a book in this series I highly recommend that you do. This one was full of wonderful information and illustrations telling the story of Jane Austin's life. Since she's one of my favorite authors I was interested on how she would be introduced to a young reader. Job well done I'm sure this will tempt a juv reader to pick up Austen.

I always enjoy these short biographies and have a bunch of them in my class library to encourage students to include some nonfiction in their reading. This was fun to read as I continue reading through Jane Austen‘s books with #PemberLittens and am currently listening to The Jane Austen Society. Although I haven‘t read a thorough Austen biography I was aware of most of this information from previous reading.

Daisey @LitStephanie Look at that! I actually read a swap book immediately after receiving it. This was a great, short biography, and now I can take it to school to add to the shelf. #AVAH #AVeryAustenHoliday 3y
DebinHawaii Fun! I keep seeing that one & I am tempted to get it just because! 😍 3y
LitStephanie @Daisey glad to hear it is class library worthy! What grade do you teach? 3y
Daisey @DebinHawaii @LitStephanie It‘s one I‘ve been interested in, but I tend to buy ones the students request. I teach 6th-7th grade English as well as 6th-9th math. 3y

Thank you so much, Stephanie! I‘m excited about this stack of books that includes such fun variety from a book for my class library to Austen inspired cocktails. The other things are amazing as well. That tote is going to get some serious use carrying books, and I can never keep track of enough magnetic bookmarks.
