The whole world is a terrifying place with the rise of authoritarianism and fascism. The UK has turned into a sea of flag-shagging ignorance and dangerously misdirected hate and anger. I feel very afraid of where we are headed. Over the summer, a huge number of roundabouts and crossings have been defaced to depict St George's flag. It's funny that people fighting back have re-imagined these by changing them. One was turned into the 🇩🇰 flag, ⬇️

It's sickening the way our establishment is sticking up to fascists. Didn't we say we'd learnt from the rise of Hitler that appeasement doesn't work with power-mad narcissists? 2d

quietlycuriouskate The St George crosses showed up five minutes from my home this week, on a zebra crossing next to a school. Made my stomach drop when I cycled over it. I was scared as a kid growing up in the 80s that the bomb would be dropped any minute: I am in greater fear now than I was back then, and that is a horrible sickening thing to realise. 2d

AllDebooks @quietlycuriouskate I know what you mean about the nuclear threat in the 80s. That fear was something that was always there but just under the surface. The state of the world now feels like constant danger 24/7, from multiple threats, and it is terrifying. 2d

Written in 1923 ,when Mussolini‘s Fascism had just begun,Clara Zetkin has a pretty sharp take on what was going on.Sounds familiar.Florida has a law the ACLU is fighting.A felon could pay ones debt to society,serve time, but if any fees or fines outstanding they could be denied the right to vote.
