The Death of King Arthur
The Death of King Arthur: The Immortal Legend | Peter Ackroyd
2 posts | 2 read | 3 to read
An immortal story of chivalry, treachery and death told anew for our times The legend of King Arthur has retained its appeal and popularity through the ages: Mordred's treason, the knightly exploits of Tristan, Lancelot's fatally divided loyalties and his love for Guenevere, the quest for the Holy Grail. Now retold by Peter Ackroyd with his signature clarity, charm and relish for a good story, the result is not only one of the most readable accounts of the knights of the Round Table but also one of the most moving.

@TheBookKeepers I've just ordered a replacement book for my #justabookswap as the first one I ordered still hasn't turned up! This one is going straight to my match so I'm going to reveal myself now.

@shanaqui I've taken a risk with the genre - it's not one of your favourites but is sort of linked to your dissertation topic (hence the tagged book!)

shanaqui Oh awesome! I'm a fairly eclectic reader so I wouldn't worry -- I'll gladly try anything once! And grr at the first book not arriving; thank you so much for your thoughtfulness in keeping track and ordering a replacement. 💙💙 5y
TheBookKeepers Oh what a bummer about the first book being lost! Thanks for being proactive in sending another. Also sounds like your choice was extremely thoughtful ❤️❤️❤️❤️ 5y
jenniferw88 @shanaqui @TheBookKeepers typical - I've just had an email saying that the first book has shipped! 5y

Pickpick

A decent retelling of Thomas Malory's La Morte D'Arthur. If you'd like to read the Arthurian legends but are put off by archaic language, this captures the spirit and utter bizarreness of the original text. Expect magic, people doing things for weird reasons or no reason at all and characters popping in and out randomly. #mounttbrreadathon #thepastisaforeigncountry

AlwaysForeverReading I love King Arthur! 5y
