Blood Will Out
Blood Will Out | Jo Treggiari
6 posts | 4 read | 8 to read
Silence of the Lambs for young adults -- Blood Will Out is a gripping YA thriller readers won't be able to put down. Ari Sullivan is alive--for now. She wakes at the bottom of a cistern, confused, injured and alone, with only the shadowy recollection of a low-pitched voice and a gloved hand. No one can hear her screams. And the person who put her there is coming back. The killer is planning a gruesome masterpiece, a fairytale tableau of innocence and blood, meticulously designed. Until now, Ari was happy to spend her days pining for handsome, recent-arrival Stroud Bellows, fantasizing about their two-point-four-kids-future together. Safe in her small hometown of Dempsey Hollow. But now her community has turned very dangerous -- and Ari may not be the only intended victim. Told in alternating perspectives of predator and prey, Blood Will Out is a gripping and terrifying read.

Panpan

While I liked the premise of this a lot, the main character was far too whiney and felt too two-dimensional. Flitting from completely helpless to rushing to save people, it didn‘t seem like the author was sure who she wanted Ari to be. Added to a very very very rushed and too-neatly-resolved ending, this book fell flat. ⭐️⭐️ #netgalley

Mehso-so

Blood Will Out (not a fan of the title) was a quick read that had maybe one shocking moment. Was this well written? No. Was it entertaining? Yes – it reminded me of a Criminal Minds episode. Will I be reading more by this author? Probably not.

Ari wakes up to find herself injured, in a dark place, with no recollection of what happened. All she knows that whoever has her will be coming back to finish the job.

gradcat Perfect review for me, especially with the “Criminal Minds” reference! 6y
TheLibrarian @gradcat The more I think about it the less Criminal Minds like it is for me. There isn‘t an awesome investigating team but I feel like a similar scenario could happen in an episode. 6y

I couldn‘t stop reading until I found out who did it. Was surprised. Still not sure their motive was super convincing. I prefer a thriller where I authentically feel the MC is in danger. Still you could do worse.

A #seatosea reference in my current read. Funnily enough I completely disagree with this character about the victims as numbers in The Stranger Beside Me. I thought Rule made a consistent effort to show the victims as individuals. @FantasyChick @Andrea4 @Jabberwocky

Jabberwocky I would agree with you! 6y
FantasyChick Absolutely agree there! 6y
Andrea4 Haha I disagree 😂😂😂 go figure. But i feel if you compared the way she spoke about the killer to the victims, they did become nameless and faceless, whereas he was romanticized and agrandized. 6y
BookishTrish @andrea4 Ooooh Interesting point! 6y
