#ThankfulThoughts #wisewomenday Three great women who I consider really wise !

Eggs Nice! Gornick and Chodron are new to me 3y
Leftcoastzen @Eggs Chodron is Buddhist but one doesn‘t need to be one to get a lot of practical living advice from her .My favorite Gornick to recommend is the one about her relationship with her mother. She often has articles in the New York Review of Books 3y
Eggs Thanks 🙏🏻❤️ Linda @Leftcoastzen 3y

“Art hurts ,art urges voyages-and it is easier to stay at home.” Today is the birthday of Gwendolyn Brooks (1917-2000)She was the first African American to win the Pulitzer. It was for her poetry collection Annie Allen.I felt I missed out on a lot not finding her sooner, a writer of power and one who pulled no punches when writing of the human condition.

LibrarianRyan I work in the Gwendolyn Brooks Library. 5y
Leftcoastzen @LibrarianRyan Oh wow , that‘s cool. 5y

“The fun was disturbed, then all but nullified
When the Dark Villain was a blackish child
Of fourteen, with eyes still too young to be dirty,
And a mouth too young to have lost every reminder
Of its infant softness.”
