so-soInteresting classic book about British man in India who helped kill some man-eating tigers. Tigers do not prey on humans as a rule but will if injured or develop a liking for it. Some parts exciting. Appropriate start to Year of the Tiger! Not all will like it.
Sitting comfortably on my bed, listening to the rain fall outside, warm and wrapped in my blanket....I can only do my best to imagine what it would be like to have an enraged tiger within a few feet of oneself 😾
Sir Jim Corbett's books take you to the jungles of North India right from the first page. This chapter of the Chowgarh maneaters- a mother and her cub- who haunted the area for 5 full years and claimed 64 lives, is as thrilling as it is gripping. Almost like personally witnessing the maneater being sent to the 'Happy Hunting Grounds' by the great legend himself.
Here‘s an old book with a tale to curdle your blood. The author was hired to track a female tiger that had killed 460 people (yes, 460) in early 20th-century India. 😮
He went on to help create the first national park in India and the first national reserve for the endangered Bengal tiger (so it all ended well, I guess).
