Merciless IV: Last Rites
Merciless IV: Last Rites | Danielle Vega
10 posts | 13 read | 12 to read
The fourth book of the scream-worthy cult series The Merciless combines Stephen King-level terror with true crime stories like the Amanda Knox case. The ropes tighten on Berkley Hubbard's wrists. Blood drips down her fingers and lands with a smack on the cold floor of the church basement. She's trapped, bound, and petrified by fear. A knife punctures her fragile skin as Berkley's captors search for the mark of the devil on her body. They say they want to save her--drive the devil away and cleanse her soul--but will she make it out alive? When Berkley arrived in Italy a week ago, the last thing she expected was that she'd end up fighting for her life. After spending six months at the Institute, confined to a room with the dangerous-yet-alluring Sofia Flores, Berkley was certain that a vacation in Italy with her two best friends would be the perfect getaway. But Berkley is hiding a terrible secret, one that threatens to undo everything. As she's forced to face her wicked past, she learns that the devil is always watching, and no one is coming to save her.

This was definitely my least favorite out of all of them. However it does provide a fitting end and was still a decent installment to the series.

#11 of my year. I love this series so much. The cover is beautiful and the inside the hardcover design is spectacular.

Caffeinated_Reader It was good. 3.5 stars because it was much of the same that you would expect. Predictable and true to her writing style. I would have loved these more when I was 16 lol but it was a great little book. The series is pretty great. Book 1 was lame but 2 and 3 were spectacular. This one was alright. I love the covers so much. 4y

There is just something about this series that I just love. And the fourth book was no different Vega has such an awesome way if writing horror that it just plays like a movie in my head while I read her books.

I purchased this awhile ago but was waiting for October to roll around so I had something spooky to read! The Merciless series is like Pretty Little Liars/Mean Girls meets The Exorcism. Sometimes, I love a fast-paced thriller!

The Merciless is one of my favorite horror series. Danielle‘s writing reminds me of Stephen King, how she blends horror and thriller together. The last book in the series really wrapped up all the loose ends and gave me a satisfying conclusion. Read this book before the movie comes out (hoping it comes out next year).

I've enjoyed this series. It is a quick guilty pleasure read. Fast paced and it doesn't take itself too seriously. You don't go in expecting a masterpiece but it always seems to deliver on it's promise to find the darkness and wickedness that can linger beneath it's characters. I could see where it was heading early on but it's okay, I still gobbled it up. Sad that there won't be any more in the series.

I wonder if book 4 will be like book one with the rough paper cover that was impossible to keep clean.
