Boring night at work. I failed my drivers test again today. So I‘m trying to beat the melancholy with some more reading.
Hope everyone had a good Monday 🌻

I genuinely don‘t know what will surpass Nutshell as the most trash book this year. It‘s set the bar pretty damn low 💩

So far Empire is my front runner. Curious how it‘s gonna match up to the sequel this month. I pre ordered my copy and I can‘t wait. He‘s doing an author signing in Chicago this month but it‘s like on a Thursday and at 7pm and I work 3rd shift 😭😭😭 hopefully he will do one for the third book and I can go then.

I know I‘ve been absent more or less for so long. Especially for #LitsyLove but I will try to be more active and present. I‘m about 30 reviews behind. Probably more than that. But I think I‘ll just try to focus on posting going forward otherwise I‘ll drop off again 😩
Big life update: my driver‘s test is Monday! I failed my December test. Fingers crossed for this time. Hopefully I‘ll pass before I turn 34 this year 🥲
WTF did I just read?!
The feelings I have for this book are similar to the feelings I had after watching Mother!
😳
Thanks #NetGalley 😅
So not quite a sequel to the whispering dark but more another story in the same universe. It was fun to see familiar faces show up, but where the whispering dark left me with a smile of my face this one left me with a punch in the gut and tears falling down my face.
Thanks to #netgalley for the arc
First of all, I found this signed owl crate edition at half price books for only 10 bux. I‘m a whore for book covers so I bought it before I even knew what it was about because, uhm, this is quite possibly one of the most beautiful covers I‘ve ever seen. Anyhoo, I was pleasantly surprised to actually adore the story contained within. I especially loved Laney. I love books with female MCs who discover how badass they are 💪🏼
Wowowowow this was everything I want in my ya horror!
Brutal, gruesome, emotional and so riveting. Even correctly predicting the twist didn‘t stop me from enjoying every minute of this.
She has become a must read author for me.
#NetGalley
This came really close to being an emotional story but it felt like the author was afraid to get a little dark. But maybe that‘s just me being so used to reading dark, emotional reads. Idk felt a little too tame for what it could have been and the ending wrapped up a little too nicely. This was a really quick read tho! Good way to kick off my December reads.

I tried. I really really tried. I stopped at pg 140. I couldn‘t do it. It‘s not that is “a hard read” it‘s that it was insanely BORING. The main character was annoying as hell, Rory was an asshole and Adelaide‘s friends were clearly too good for her and deserved better. Everytime I put this book down I dreaded picking it back up. I lost track of how many times I rolled my eyes.
Idk, I don‘t think I‘m the target audience for this one.
There were times where some of the characters were unlikable, but for the most part I really enjoyed this one. Plus it made me want to go back and binge OUAT again, so there‘s that.
A masterpiece. Truly. Abitha is a badass 🖤
If you read this one watch your step, there is plot holes everywhere 🤭
This one goes off the rails and just becomes nonsensical. Entertaining though, I guess.
This was a decent mystery. Honestly since “Then She Was Gone” I haven‘t read a 5 star from her. I keep reading her books hoping to get what I loved from that one, but coming up short. Anyway, I wasn‘t a huge fan of the ending and Owen‘s storyline is just a little too neatly wrapped up.
This was fast paced and thrilling. I loved the mystery of this one.
This was such an amazing book, honestly. I loved these badass women. Especially Harriett. I want Harriett to adopt me. I love her 😭♥️
The humor/banter in this was actually pretty great. I just didn‘t care for the MC. It‘s like the author *needed* us to know this was a ✨cool girl✨ and her idea of what that is was constantly being thrown at us. Also the romance was completely unnecessary to the plot imo. Also, just because someone is your family doesn‘t mean they are owed your forgiveness, parent or not. 3 stars was generous.
Ugh. It‘s been so long since I‘ve been solid in this app. I‘m 30, I repeat THIRTY review posts behind 😭 ughhhhh
I‘m just gonna post a few now and just do a few each day.
Maybe one day I can be more on top of things 😩
I‘m currently 17 reviews behind on Litsy. Someday I‘ll update it 🫣
Here‘s my current read. Mailed out last months LMPBC today and now starting the next one 🤗
The synopsis reminded me slightly of Weight of Blood, however it didn‘t come close. For a book titled “The Black Queen” that deals with systemic racism, white privilege, micro aggressions and the like, it spends way too much time with an unlikable white girl with an undeserved redemption arc. Too much Tinsley, not enough Nova.
Lives up to the title. However, beyond the ick, there‘s really nothing of substance.
Wasn't a huge fan of the writing style. The constant flashbacks every chapter to explain every little thing, was annoying.
However the plot, the story and the characters all made me more emotional than I expected to be.
This wasn‘t what I expected based on the synopsis but I wasn‘t disappointed either.
Very creepy. I love Joe‘s writing. The ending left me a little dissatisfied though.
Definitely weird, definitely funny, definitely left me feeling some type of way. My issue with it will be in the comments under a spoiler tag.
This was very close to a 5 star read for me. I loved how, even though I couldn‘t relate to her obsession/love, I could still feel it and understand her reasoning behind the decisions she made. I truly felt everything the character felt. The only thing keeping it from being a 5 was how slow it was. It made it feel longer than it was.
I loved how storytelling was an important theme. I also loved how the woods were a character in their own right. This felt very much like a fairytale.
Was definitely a slow build though until the last 100 pages or so.
I was really enjoying this until the reveal. The twist didn‘t make any sense at all and made the rest of the story convoluted. Beautiful cover though.
Another ARC that was in my Netgalley shelf for so long that by the time I read it, I already had a physical copy 😬🙈
I experienced so many emotions reading this one. I was really sad when it ended. I could have continued reading about this family for another 100 pages.
Uhmmmmm…. So the app isn‘t letting me sign in? Anyone else having this issue? I also can‘t sign in with Facebook on the website, thankfully I remembered my password cuz half the time I don‘t lol
Wow I‘m so far behind on so much.
I still have 2 months worth of book reviews to post.
I can‘t remember the last time I sent a #LitsyLove letter.
I always get so far behind to the point I feel overwhelmed.
On the bright side, look at this amazing cover 😱😍
Great premise that I just felt under delivered. Which is a bummer since it started out strong.
I‘ll still check out the show though. Maybe I‘ll like that better.
Was hard to put this one down. I was invested almost from the start. A mind bending, supernatural thriller for sure.
Fun and cute. I loved all the ways it poked fun. I definitely went and watched one of the fyre fest docs after reading it lol
I hope you guys have fun reading this too! I‘ll be mailing it out to you tomorrow, Amy 🤗
Some really good stories that left me wanting more.
#2023ReadingBracket starting out pretty good this year. These were easy picks so far though.
Genuinely creepy and interesting. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.

Despite a stressful month (or perhaps 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 of it) I‘ve been on a roll lately. Hoping to keep the momentum going!
If this book came in 2nd in a Killercon Gross Out story competition, I don‘t even want to know what came first 😳
Giving this 5 stars because it lived up to the grossness it was advertising, but yuck 🤢
It‘s only 50 cents on Godless if you don‘t have a soft stomach 😂
This was so fun and some parts had me laughing out loud.
This one just barely made it a pick. Seriously by like this 🤏🏼 much. I had fun reading it which is what pushed me through it. It was just nonsensical and certain parts were unnecessary. Like the weird sexual attraction to the dad?? Like why was that in there if it didn‘t even go anywhere or serve the plot in anyway.
Very powerful and moving. Its absolutely heartbreaking what the kids at that school went through.
I loved the premise of this and really wish this was a whole book or a series.
Oooh this was a lot of fun and kept me guessing. I felt so bad for Tallulah. Great pick for #LMPBC :)
Amy, I‘ll get this mailed out tomorrow! Sorry I kept forgetting this week.
Good until the ending. Or lack thereof, rather. It didn‘t feel like an ambiguous ending, it felt unfinished which made me regret wasting my time reading it.
While I do agree with the people who say the “twist” was unbelievable, I was able to look past it. That was minor compared to the rest of the book in my opinion. This book captured my attention from the very first page and I blew through it in one day. I adored the strong female characters. This one just blew me away and I had so much fun reading it.
Literally everyone is this book is an unlikable asshole except for the baby and Anna. And while I understand Rose Gold‘s reasoning for wanting revenge, the way she went about it makes her no better than her own mom, if not worse. This was just not enjoyable when you don‘t like any of the people you‘re reading about.
Beautiful cover tho 🤷🏻♀️
This was a cute little read about the relationship between mother and daughter.
This was better than I was expecting. I loved how fast paced this was. At first I wasn‘t sure how I felt about Ashley but she grew on me and by the end I loved her. There were definitely some unrealistic bits that kept it from being a 5 but over all this was enjoyable.
