Genuinely creepy and interesting. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.
#BookSpin - Book of Cold Cases
#DoubleSpin - The Power
Despite a stressful month (or perhaps π£π¦π€π’πΆπ΄π¦ of it) I‘ve been on a roll lately. Hoping to keep the momentum going!
If this book came in 2nd in a Killercon Gross Out story competition, I don‘t even want to know what came first π³
Giving this 5 stars because it lived up to the grossness it was advertising, but yuck π€’
It‘s only 50 cents on Godless if you don‘t have a soft stomach π
This was so fun and some parts had me laughing out loud.
This one just barely made it a pick. Seriously by like this π€πΌ much. I had fun reading it which is what pushed me through it. It was just nonsensical and certain parts were unnecessary. Like the weird sexual attraction to the dad?? Like why was that in there if it didn‘t even go anywhere or serve the plot in anyway.
Very powerful and moving. Its absolutely heartbreaking what the kids at that school went through.
I loved the premise of this and really wish this was a whole book or a series.
Oooh this was a lot of fun and kept me guessing. I felt so bad for Tallulah. Great pick for #LMPBC :)
Amy, I‘ll get this mailed out tomorrow! Sorry I kept forgetting this week.
Good until the ending. Or lack thereof, rather. It didn‘t feel like an ambiguous ending, it felt unfinished which made me regret wasting my time reading it.
While I do agree with the people who say the βtwistβ was unbelievable, I was able to look past it. That was minor compared to the rest of the book in my opinion. This book captured my attention from the very first page and I blew through it in one day. I adored the strong female characters. This one just blew me away and I had so much fun reading it.
Literally everyone is this book is an unlikable asshole except for the baby and Anna. And while I understand Rose Gold‘s reasoning for wanting revenge, the way she went about it makes her no better than her own mom, if not worse. This was just not enjoyable when you don‘t like any of the people you‘re reading about.
Beautiful cover tho π€·π»ββοΈ
This was a cute little read about the relationship between mother and daughter.
This was better than I was expecting. I loved how fast paced this was. At first I wasn‘t sure how I felt about Ashley but she grew on me and by the end I loved her. There were definitely some unrealistic bits that kept it from being a 5 but over all this was enjoyable.
I can appreciate what the author was trying to do. I did like the writing even if some things got a bit repetitive. It‘s just how the villains are just one note and we‘re brutal for the sake of being brutal. Idk it just didn‘t resonate with me like it was supposed to.
Getting Mr. Frank 7 years ago was one of the the best things to happen to our little family. He brought so much love and happiness to our home. This weekend we had to say goodbye and it was awful. It wasn‘t peaceful for him and it was traumatic for us. I‘m just happy they let us spend 3 hours with him after. This hurts and everything sucks π
If not for some plot holes and unanswered questions, this would be a masterpiece.
To quote Lady Gaga:
βtalented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, shit on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it.β
I liked this one a lot, I‘m just not sure how I feel about the ending. Even though I was not rooting for Richard in anyway I don‘t know how I feel about the ending. Idk. Great read though. Also fuck Jenna for using her daughter as a weapon. I totally get her wanting revenge but not at the expense of her daughter. This did shine a light on how parents trauma can trickle down to their kids though.
So to start with, I hated the writing. The constant incomplete sentences were driving me insane! Secondly, I didn‘t like any character besides Nora. And lastly, I didn‘t buy the appeal of David. He was supposed to have these kids wrapped around his finger but I didn‘t buy the charisma.
This was such a fun ride! There needs to be a sequel in the future!!
A solidly creepy and short read. I guess I was expecting a little more from it.
Even this some things were a bit predictable, I sincerely enjoyed this one. The characters had a lot of depth and I truly believed and felt the sisters‘ love for each other. I hope there‘s a sequel to this in the future!
I mailed this out this past Saturday @Bookish_AF along with an extra for u :)
A genuinely scary read! I only wish more questions were answered.
This was a lot of fun. I like that it played out like a behind the music VH1 special. It made for a quick read. I might have rated higher if I listened to the audio book which I e heard was excellent. Excited to see the show!
Landing in the middle on this one. I feel like there were a lot of conversations that characters should have had that the author totally ignored plus the ending was meh.
Thank you so much friend for the thoughtful gift! I‘m so thankful to have you as a friend β₯οΈ
@rsteve388 thank you so so much!!! I‘m so excited!

Happy Christmas Eve everyone!
Thank you @MaleficentBookDragon for hosting again this year. It‘s my favorite swap of the year!
This has been sitting on my net galley shelf so long that by the time I read it, it was in physical form π¬
To me this was perfection. It blew me away and made me cry. I love when a thriller does that.
Current read. I tried to start Nothing but blackened teeth yesterday but 40 pages in and I‘m so bored. So switching it up today.
Hope everyone is having a good Saturday π»
I had a lot of fun with this one. Short and sweet. Only knock I had was the epilogue. I‘m not sure how I feel about it. But everything before then was perfect.
Bought this last spring and I‘ve been waiting until December to read it! Enjoying the snow falling at work and cozying up to this. Pretty good so far; definitely quirky.
Ooooooh I liked this one A LOT. This was definitely an intense and dark read. I do wish there was more to the end but other than that I truly enjoyed this one!
Trash trash trash trash trash. I work night audit at a hotel so I thought this would be a fun little book to read at work. No. I hated it. Just a bunch of teens making stupid decisions. Plus usually in books if the main characters aren‘t seeking out help from the police there‘s an obvious reason. But here there literally is not. There‘s no reason for these teens doing what the crazy person was telling them to do. Sooooo STUPID.
Landing solidly in the middle on this one. The majority of the stories would have been so much better if they were shorter. This was an insanely verbose book. Plus I was definitely not a fan of the end it was just meh. My favorite story in here was the magician. Again it could have been shorter but the ending to that story actually gave me chills.
It‘s honestly offensive to me when someone touts a book as the scariest thing ever and it‘s barely even creepy. If it wasn‘t for that I might have felt differently about it but I went in expecting to be scared or at least creeped out. Instead I was bored with how predictable it was.
My #jolablokaflod is going in the mail right now. I was waiting on the book and it came just in the Nick of time!
Reading buddy this morning is Fat Butt πΎπββ¬π»
Going in!!
I actually don‘t mind that it wasn‘t very βhorrorβ. I was intrigued by the mystery from the start. A handful of the characters were likable and the rest were insufferable. My main issue is that the end leaves some things unresolved. Pretty big things, in my opinion. I still had fun reading this. The author‘s prose was beautiful.
This will be mailed out Monday afternoon π€
Oh I liked this one a lot! So fun and very atmospheric. This would make for a really fun movie, I think. Great pick, Amy!
This will be mailed out Monday afternoon π€
Overall this one was kinda meh. Not blown away by any of the stories within.
I loved this book but I also didn‘t enjoy it at the same time. The author makes this intentionally uncomfortable and infuriating. It‘s a book that stays with you, that‘s for sure.
Yeeeaaah this definitely didn‘t live up to the hype for me. It had a lot of potential. The pictures were great and unique. But there were so many bad or nonsensical decisions I couldn‘t look past. It‘s a nope from me.
Finally ready to tackle this one π
This one has been hyped so much, so it‘s time to see if it lives up to all the hoopla!
I devoured this in a night. I love this world and the characters. Aggghhhh I hope we don‘t have to wait too long for the next one πππ
