#AprilBookShowers First few books that popped into mind for #Thoughtprovoking Two are nonfiction others are fiction, read all five for bookclub...each contained topics, questions and ideas that led to wonderful discussions. I recommend all! Have tagged other titles below because they deserve recognition, too😁
"The grocer told him he participated in his sorrow, the Hebrew way of expressing condolence."
An act of terrorism in Jerusalem. How does Daniel grieve for his twin brother while caring for his young children. How is a relationship sustained while a man does not allow himself to feel anything? What happens when he finally lets go? I could not put this compelling book down.
Beautiful book. Could get a little slow at points, but the realism felt off the charts.
My book haul from the library. Think I will read All I Love and Know first.
This was a beautiful, haunting book about the way trauma and grief affects families. I especially liked that Frank made both Matt and Daniel sympathetic and yet also vastly imperfect; they were realistic, and had real and normal thoughts and feelings about themselves, each other, and their situation. That made me root for them even more. I highly highly recommend this, it was really good.
This book has a lot to take in. Topics covered include terrorism, Gay parenting, Israeli/Palestinian relationships and cultural and religious differences. Daniel and Matt are partners. Daniel's twin is killed in a terrorist attack in Israel and custody of his two children is given to Daniel. He brings the children to Massachusetts to live with him and Matt. Thought provoking. #diversity #diversereads #LGBTreads
I've had this in my TBR for ages, and it jumped out at me while trying to pick something to read. I hope it's good.
This is my latest Book Club read. I am just beginning, but I can already tell that it will be powerful.
It‘s Staff Pick Sunday, and marketing director @Tav recommends ALL I LOVE AND KNOW by Judith Frank. We caught her reading at her desk on Friday afternoon. Her review: “I love this book, about how a male couple living in Northampton deals with the strains put on their relationship when one of them decides to adopt his recently-orphaned Israeli niece and nephew. It‘s a beautiful story of love, politics, and the ultimate generosity of spirit.”

Read it twice. Got so many different things out of it each time.
