Only 2, because I really don't do horror (in fact I haven't seen the end of either of these movies!)

1. The Matrix
2. Pan's Labyrinth

#tlt @dabbe

Do you want to play @TrishB ?

TrishB I started to think about it and there isn‘t anything that has freaked me out since I was a kid/ in my teens in horror films. I can‘t believe you haven‘t finished The Matrix 😁 1y
TrishB Don‘t make me watch true crime though- that‘s the scary stuff!! 1y
jenniferw88 @TrishB both of these were at school, and I was aged about 15/16 then. It was the vats of blood (?) for The Matrix, and the monster with no eyes for Pan's Labyrinth (too scary even if you are watching the Spanish version! 😂) 1y

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I also chose The Matrix 😳 1y
dabbe @TrishB That's why THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS tripped me out! That shit can really happen! 😱 1y
dabbe #1: Loved this series! I bet you could finish it now! 🤩
#2: Never saw PL; it's now on my October video list! 🧡🖤🧡

jenniferw88 @dabbe re: the matrix - doubtful! I'm needle-phobic, and medical/hospital horror/gore can trigger me because of my health issues. 1y
dabbe @jenniferw88 Oh yeah, then stay away! Sorry to have brought you any angst! 🧡🖤🧡 1y
jenniferw88 @dabbe it's ok! I wouldn't expect you to know about my phobia and triggers 😂😁 1y
dabbe @jenniferw88 😮‍💨🤗😍 1y

What‘s ‘real‘? Could ‘this‘ all be a dream; a game; an illusion; a computer simulation? The Matrix and its sequels raised profound - some would say pointless - philosophical questions which had already been asked by philosophers from Plato to Descartes and all points in between. This book of essays explores their points of view non-technically and without unnecessary jargon, examining various answers to the ‘real‘ question along the way.

When messianic hacker Neo kick-boxes the Matrix's virtual-reality dream-prison, he is really struggling with some of mankind's biggest conundrums: the nature of truth and reality, the possibility of free will, the mind-body problem and the alienation of labor in late-capitalist society. The tacit goal here is to make philosophy fun for the general reader by orienting it to pop-culture reference points.

Currently reading. It's great to know that there are books explaining the philosophy of popular culture.
