From the New York Times bestselling author of Death Below Stairs A mystery of stolen antiquities has Kat Holloway setting aside her apron once again for the intrigues of the upper echelons of Victorian London Priceless artwork has gone missing from the home of a wealthy baronet, and his wife stands to take the blame. When Kat's employer asks for help in clearing her friend's name, Kat trades her kitchen for the homes of Mayfair's wealthiest families. Soon antiques are disappearing not only from the extravagant households of connoisseurs and collectors, but from the illustrious British Museum. As the thefts increase in frequency, Kat calls upon her friend Daniel McAdam, who has already set himself up in a pawnshop on the Strand as a seedy receiver of stolen goods. When a man is murdered in the shop, Kat must use all of her wits to see that the thieves are caught and justice is done.

Really enjoyed this second book in this historical mystery series. In this one Kate has to help clear a poisoning, a theft ring, and murder. She also gets a new assistant to help in the kitchen. Lots of food.

A lot going on in this one but I love Kate and Daniel.

Clwojick Perfect match! 💖👏🏻 2y

Excited for this weekend‘s #24B4Monday as it‘s the last weekend before the college class I‘m taking starts in earnest and the next to last weekend before my son starts school! I‘m hoping to read at least 18 hours but as far as which books I‘m hoping to read I‘m not sure other than finishing the tagged. Probably try to get through my library books! @Andrew65

Andrew65 Great to have you with us, good luck with the Readathon. 4y

I enjoyed book 2 in this cozy historical mystery series. There's just a little bit of romance, too, which is just the amount that I can handle, and it's done in a way that doesn't make me roll my eyes.

Monday night reads with my buddy (who is scared of the booms of the early fireworks). Does it still count as an ARC if I only start it one day before the actual book is released?! 😂🙈 #dogsoflitsy

rubyslippersreads Sometimes I don't start mine till the books have been out for months. The guilt is killing me. 😕 6y
brennahawleycraig @rubyslippersreads yes!! I really wanted to read this but life got in the way. 6y

An additional winner for Ms. Ashley in this series! I loved it, Mrs. Holloway is such a likable character, she finds herself short of a kitchen assistant but she's saved by taking in a young street urchin, Tess as a favor to Mr. McDaniels. Tess proves to be a quick study even though she's pretty rough around the edges. She proves herself invaluable to the household while Mrs.Holloway tries to help Lady Cynthia solve this latest caper.
