I had to think for a bit to come up with a book with time travel. I love the Artemis Fowl series, especially the earlier books. There are some wonderful characters and interesting storylines.

Karisimo I‘ve only read the first one and enjoyed it! Someday I need to go deeper into the series! 6mo

Time travel often breaks fictional universes. Here, it‘s handled well, and we‘re treated to a duel between an older, wiser Artemis and his younger, crueler (and lonelier) version. There‘s a betrayal subplot playing on the reader‘s emotions, which I also enjoyed. It wasn‘t all roses and rainbows, and there's one element that I didn‘t appreciate (though it‘s a spoiler, so I can‘t elaborate), but it cumulated into a wild, fun ride overall.

4.0/5

Artemis and crew go back in time to save his mom.

These books are getting very convoluted and repetitive.

A standard time travel plot every book series must have. For the full review, please visit http://benjamin-m-weilert.com/index.php/2021/08/25/book-the-time-paradox-2008/

On platforms that have star ratings, I'm rounding up to 4 because I liked it better than book 5, and it provided silly entertainment.

Some other readers have compelling reasons for disliking this installment, including discrepancies in the recurring characters.

[more in comments]

JoyBlue In considering their reasoning, I realized that I probably have different standards for different genres. I tend to rate this series 4 stars is because I like the entertainment value in comparison to other youth fantasy. If this series were literary fiction, I probably wouldn't rate it as highly. Is that fair or reasonable? I haven't decided. But, it's how I feel right now, apparently. [more in next comment] 5y
JoyBlue I may *not* include it as a 4 in my monthly reading recap, because I don't think it's as good as the first few installments.

[I may have to reassess how I rate the Harry Potter series, which I like even more than the Artemis Fowl series, overall. I just have a really hard time handing out 5 stars.]

DrexEdit If it were me, I'd probably shave a star or two off of Artemis Fowl and give them to Harry Potter. 😄 I don't think it's wrong to rate books differently if they are aimed at accomplishing different goals. 5y
JoyBlue @DrexEdit Thanks for that! I laughed at your first comment and appreciate your second. The latter is a better way of saying what I'm feeling. 😉 5y

75% into the book it was just another Artemis Fowl adventure but then came the big twist and it blew my mind away. I love reading and watching about time travel, totally unrealistic yet so fun that you wish it were true.

The highlight of every fantasy or science fiction book is the world it is set in.More than the characters, one needs to believe that such a world exists. If the writer is able to make you believe in a make believe world then he/she has done his job.Artemis's world is one I believe in.I believe that events that take place, however ludicrous they may seem, are possible. Book 6 deals in time travel & Colfer makes it very believable, very fascinating.

Halfway through book 6 of the Artemis Fowl adventures I realized the reason I am reading this series in one go is because I want to live in this world.A world full of fairies & centaurs & dwarfs & pixies, where demons are good fairies, where a criminal Mastermind genius later becomes a Mastermind genius.

It has everything from time travel to magical healing, insane unimaginable tech to bizarre characters.Read it if you enjoy good science fiction.

“Barely an hour north of Dublin‘s fair city lies the Fowl estate, where the boundaries have changed little in the past five hundred years.”

With all the adventure, wit, and magic I love about the series, this sixth book involves time travel, an extinct lemur, and Artemis‘s most challenging nemesis yet: himself. I‘m glad I enjoyed reading it just as much a second time.

This has to bee my favorite book series ever. I‘ve read this series more times than I can count . I feel that this series was overshadowed by Harry Potter and deserves a place right beside it as one of the most entertaining YA book series ever.
