An insightful look into the life of a child raised by a serial killer, this book details Hazel's life from childhood to present. A disturbing insight into her childhood and the horrors she witnessed her mother committing. It also shows the strength of the family bonds between Hazel and her siblings and how she eventually came forward to the authorities to have her mother investigated and charged with the murders she had committed. A riveting read.
This was between a so-so and a pick for me. I wasn‘t always crazy about the writing, I felt at times it hopped around a lot and was redundant. But the story was very interesting and the courage Hazel and her family showed by defying their mother was incredible. In other news, Huey chilled with me on the couch while I was finishing it this morning! Hopefully the first of many books he ‘helps‘ me through. #huey #catsoflitsy
Hazel first suspected her mother was a murderer at the age of 9. This book follows Hazel‘s journey as a terrified daughter who managed to escape her mother‘s influence and go to the police, through the court cases and their relationship in her mother‘s old age. A real kicker of a story!
