King & King is a great child's book that touches on important issues such as LGBTQ+ representation. This is a spin on a classic tale and i absolutely adored this read! It gives such a great message and could open amazing discussions about inclusivity. This book is a great book to have in your classroom library for all ages!

King and King was written by Linda de Haan and Stern Nijland in 2000. This is a wonderful book that teaches diversity in the classroom. It is about a prince being forced to find a princess to marry and after looking at many princesses, he falls in love with another prince. This book has not won any awards, but I still highly recommend for a classroom read aloud!

3 ⭐ King and king is a book like Prince and Knight in that the Prince has to marry to carry on the throne. A variety of princesses are paraded in front of him, but he falls for the brother of one, a prince. They get married and live happily ever after. I think the reason that this book is not as heard of as Prince and Knight, even though it has been around since 2000, are the illustrations.

LibrarianRyan The best illustration in the book is the cover. Some of the pictures are just not appealing. And it is because of this, that even thought I am against Banning Books, I would not buy this one for my collection. #bannedbooks #bbrc (edited) 2y

Despite having an identical premise to another picture book I disliked, this one I LOVED! The mixed media art was just incredible, and this was truly representational. The princesses paraded before the prince completely ran the gamut in terms of looks and personalities. The queen is a funny, tough as nails, single mother/ruler with 2 previous marriages. I even found her reason for demanding that the prince marry charming. #BBRCPictureBookLetterK

The idea of the fairy tale trope being flipped on it‘s head and two princes falling in love is a good one, but I didn‘t like the art, and all the women were portrayed in a negative way. Kind of defeats the purpose. There are much better options out there now, thank goodness.

#Zeek ‘s grandma took him to the library last week and we have been working through the books he picked out. I love how she doesn‘t care what he checks out either.

The Prince needs to get married but doesn‘t like princesses. One Princess came with her brother to meet him and the two Princes fell in love, got married and became King and King! 💞 #ZeekApproved #raisingreaders #diversereads
