Although it's a series of short stories, it reads very much like a novel, with characters reappearing and different aspects of the same story being slowly uncovered.
The first story takes place in Colombo in 1939, and from here we're following three generations of two Sri Lankan families in both Sri Lanka and the USA, through their studies, arranged marriages, heartaches, secrets, successes and failures. ⬇️

As with any short story collection, some were amazing and others I just didn‘t connect with. I liked that they were linked, moving across generations and places following members of the same extended family. And now I feel like I need to check out some of the author‘s erotica!

For #authorofcolor I'll go with Mary Anne Mohanraj. I loved her on the Writing Excuses podcast, and she's been on my TBR for a while.
She says Amitav Ghosh is one of her absolute favorite authors.
