I pulled this off my shelf at random to read. Why? To make room for my Christmas book gifts. 😆😆 I‘m enjoying it, though.
New Year‘s book cull … incoming. 😆

A perfect city moment in a cute little cafe with a new library book 💖
My first book finished for #24in48 and it was such a perfect book for me.
Fletcher‘s writing is so descriptive and beautiful, and I am a sucker for a good, gothic-feeling tale. Haunting, mysterious, and moving historical fiction, set in 1914 in London and the English countryside. I loved the characters, especially Clara, and Shadowbrook with all of its secrets and loveliness.
My second Susan Fletcher, and she‘s a new favorite author.

Look at all of the #bookmail I received today! 😃
The bottom three are from my last Thriftbooks order of 2018, and are books I needed for challenges this year.
The top 3 are for traveling books clubs... my latest packages for #LGPOG and #LMPBC group F both arrived. I‘m excited about your books, Cal and Tammy!❤️
The pretty one on the left is from the UK, as I must read more of Fletcher‘s books, thanks to Nikki‘s pick for #NewYearWhoDis. 😃
It has all the right ingredients... a garden, an old house, a ghostly presence. A good but not awesome Gothic read. I think some scenes were a bit dragged out which slowed down the story and the plot was Gothic 101, but it was still engaging and enjoyable and I had no trouble staying with it to the end.
