The Rebecca Notebook
The Rebecca Notebook: and Other Memories | Daphne Du Maurier
5 posts | 5 read | 3 to read
"In her heartfelt memories...one hears the genuine, thoughtful voice of a woman whose works have been loved by millions."-New York Times Rebecca was one of Daphne du Maurier's greatest bestsellers. It has been read all around the world, and in many different languages. The book has been adapted for the theater, film, television, and even opera. Now Daphne du Maurier reveals how it came to be written: its origins, its development, and the directions its plot might have taken. The original outline of the novel is here, as well as the original Epilogue. Daphne du Maurier also reveals how she first came upon Manebilly, the secret house hidden away in Cornish woodland, that was to become the romantic setting of Rebecca: a house which stood derelict, and which she lovingly restored.

This was interesting. The first part of the book is chapter notes, possible endings, and a fully fleshed out epilogue. (I recommend reading Rebecca first). Rest of the book contains vignettes of her father and grandfather; and the story behind Menabilly (Manderley in the novel) and how she discovered it.

TheAromaofBooks Interesting, I've never even heard of this one!! 4y
Eggs @TheAromaofBooks perhaps cobbled together from her estate & posthumously published. I like the view it lends of who she was and from whom she came. She raised her children there at Manderley. She was prolific! And so many who wrote bios of her 4y

Well you have to read a book when it was voted best book of the century. I listened to this one on audible and the narration was fantastic!! Great read! I did not expect the twists!

Came over these nice statues on my #audiowalk for #LitsyWalkersBingo on my way home from work. It‘s dark outside, so a bit hard to see. Today was a nice walk with this excellent book on my ear!
