I started the Frances Tucket series today. Book 1: In 1848, while on a wagon train headed for Oregon, fourteen-year-old Francis Tucket is kidnapped by Pawnee Indians and then falls in with a one-armed trapper who teaches him how to live in the wild. Book 2: Frances heads out on his own when he realizes he‘s no longer a boy but a man.

Mr. Tucket by Gary Paulsen is a historical fiction book that was published in 2000. This story about a boy named Francis and for his birthday he was given a rifle. He ventures out into the Rocky Mountains, close to where he lives, and he is captured by the Pawnee Indians. He is tortured and they almost kill him. Someone in the tribe is trying to help free him and they come up with a plan and Francis escapes.
