Everything She Forgot
Everything She Forgot: A Novel | Lisa Ballantyne
18 posts | 15 read | 21 to read
Some things aren't meant to be remembered . . . They're calling it the worst pileup in London history. Margaret Holloway is driving home, but her mind is elsewhereon a troubled student, her daughter's acting class, the next day's meetingwhen she's rear-ended and trapped in the wreckage. Just as she begins to panic, a disfigured stranger pulls her from the car seconds before it's engulfed in flames. Then he simply disappears. Though she escapes with minor injuries, Margaret feels that something's wrong. She's having trouble concentrating. Her emotions are running wild. More than that, flashbacks to the crash are also dredging up lost associations from her childhood, fragments of events that had been wiped from her memory. Whatever happened, she didn't merely forgetshe chose to forget. And somehow, Margaret knows deep down that it has something to do with the man who saved her life. As Margaret uncovers a mystery with chilling implications for her family and her very identity, Everything She Forgot winds through a riveting dual narrative and asks the question: How far would you go to hide the truthfrom yourself?

Thoroughly enjoyable quick read. A good, simple story that tugged at my heartstrings. At some points I wondered how the story was going to connect and then all of a sudden, it came together beautifully. It shows how strong a fathers love can be. Wonderful!

I hate to bail on books 🙁. This one didn‘t capture my attention enough to pick it up again after a family movie night.

While driving home, a woman is involved in a huge pileup and is trapped in the wreckage. Just as she starts to panic, a stranger pulls her from the car seconds before it‘s engulfed in flames. Then he simply disappears. The event triggers the woman's memories about a horrible tragedy in her childhood that she has repressed. This book is presented as a mystery and a thriller--for me, however, there really was no twist or surprise in the end.

zezeki I've read this book about a year ago, but the one I read was called Redemption Road. 6y

Working on this book for the past few days; however, in a swirl of activities with grandkids and football games Thursday through Sunday, I'm less than 25% through it. Books will always be around; but kids and grands are grown up and gone before you know it

#TBRtemptation post 9! Called a compelling, edge-of-your-seat domestic thriller that leaps between past and present. Margaret gets majorly rear-ended and trapped in what's considered the worst pile-up in London history. A disfigured stranger pulls her from the wreckage before it goes up in flames, and then he disappears. She realizes he may be linked to past regressed horrific memories of a former identity. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

My book club read this. I don't think I would have picked this up on my own so I'm glad the club chose it. It was a great story, with characters that were well developed and a plot that hooked me. The villain was an evil bastard. Plus I'm a fan of anything that's set in the UK.

MrBook Great review! You talked me into adding it 😊👍🏻. 8y
ScarletQuill The ending was also very satisfying! 8y

I wouldn't say this was the best book I've ever read, but it was an entertaining read. If there were any twists and turns they were predictable, and the story had multiple POVs and kept switching between different days in the "past" and "present," but I didn't find it too hard to follow. If the characters were a little more developed, I believe it could have been a great book, but some of them fell completely flat. Quick read!

I can't say I enjoyed this book but I can't find fault with it, in that I just didn't like it. I wasn't inspired or moved to feel much of anything. I would have given up on it except I had to know how it would end -- even if I expected little. I have many friends who enjoyed this so decide for yourself it is of interest to you. But I can't recommend it. But panning won't do! I'll go so-so.

Steak and kidney pie and now apple pie! So, yea, I make note of all the pie mentions I come across in my readings... (Not the most flattering photo shot but I have both dogs with me while I read on the boat. Which is nice. Difficult to capture.)

[DELETED] 2232195534 Everybody looks content. Enjoy and let us know what you thought. I have it around to read at some point. 😀 8y
BkClubCare It fascinates me that I have friends who thot The Fireman was too violent yet this book is horrifyingly mean and casually violent; I find it more disturbing. @kaysreadinglife 8y

It is between this and NOS4A2 of unread books on my Kindle. I don't remember why/when I bought it or who might have rec'd it. DON'T tell me anything unless just a yes- go for it encouragement. I love going into books totally blind. Esther the Griff assisting.

I've been reading this with a baby sleeping on me and it's good enough to keep me awake - that's saying something. Thank god for the overdrive app and library ebooks!
