My neighbors are big game hunters and today I came home to a massive moose head drying on the lawn. At least they hunt for food, not sport.

This is the first book of a new detective series featuring DI Embla Nystrom from Gothenburg Sweden. On her vacation, Embla decides to go hunting at her uncle's cabin in rural Dalsland. Peter, a young divorce decides to join the hunting group and becomes the thirteenth member which another member points out is a bad omen for the week.
I love Helene Tursten's Detective Irene series. This book too features a lead female detective, a tough-nut called Embla. Although for once I actually guessed who the killer was, I liked the backdrop of the hunting scenes and forest description. Looking forward to reading the next one in the series.
I love Helene Tursten and am enjoying getting to know the new detective, Embla. I read the second one first as I had an ARC so this one explained a few things. I love the setting in the more rural areas of Sweden and learning about how hunting works there. I hope there are lots more Embla stories.
This is the new series from Tursten featuring a minor character from an Irene Huss novel. Trigger warnings if you do not want to read depictions of actual hunting- moose in this case. There are a series of accidents then murders during the hunting season and detective Embla- a prizewinning boxer and police officer, as part of the hunt, is on scene. The book is short (around 280) and translated from Danish. I prefer her Irene Huss series. 3🌟
Hold came in for this new series from Helene Tursten featuring Embla Nystrom - right now the gang are hunting Moose but things are afoot.
Shelf Awareness sent me this one for review, so I‘ll save my longer thoughts for later... but, if you‘ve never read Helene Tursten before, start with one of her Inspector Irene Huss novels. I love those. I found her new Inspector, Embla Nystrom, less engaging. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

My 5yo only has school 4 days a week, and I don‘t work at Bookmans on Wednesdays. So she‘s in ballet, and I‘m sitting in the hallway reading HUNTING GAME by Helene Tursten for @shelf.awareness! (Ah the flattering light of a Parks and Rec hallway.) #currentlyreading
