Bestselling author Peter Straub's Koko is a gripping psychological thriller in which horror and paranoia are indistinguishable from reality.Koko. Only four men knew what it meant. Now they must stop it. They were Vietnam vets-a doctor, a lawyer, a working stiff, and a writer. Very different from each other, they are nonetheless linked by a shared history and a single shattering secret. Now, they have been reunited and are about to embark on a quest that will take from Washington, D.C., to the graveyards and fleshpots of the Far East to the human jungle of New York, hunting someone from the past who has risen from the darkness to kill and kill and kill.

It‘s #nationalreadabookday and I just heard the sad news that Peter Straub has passed away.
So I‘ll take today to recommend his Talisman books with Stephen King, and his Blue Rose Trilogy. Pick up any book by Straub if you‘ve never read him - he‘s a treasure - and let him live on through the works he‘s left behind.

DGRachel This makes me sad. Koko was one of the first adult horror novels I read. 2y
Sweettartlaura @DGRachel me too 😢. He wasn‘t as prolific as King (who is? 🤷🏻‍♀️), but every book was a winner. 2y
Sweettartlaura @DGRachel me, too 😢 2y
kelli7990 I‘ve never read any of his books. 2y
DivineDiana I have not read any of his books yet. Thank you for the recommendations. I will try to read one to honor his passing. 2y

#TBRtemptation post 1! #AllHallowsReadBookExchange edition! This is the first installment in the Blue Rose Trilogy. KOKO, only 4 men know what it means: a doctor, a lawyer, a working stiff, a writer, Vietnam vets all. They're all linked by a shattering secret. Someone from the past has risen to kill, and they will go on the hunt from D.C. to the Far East. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

AmyG I remember really enjoying this book. I read it when it first came out. (edited) 6y
drokka I've had this book since it was first released and despite having tried to read it every couple of years or so, I have not been able to get past the first 50 pages or so. 6y
Bookzombie I didn‘t know this was a trilogy. I have an old copy that‘s been on my shelf for years. 6y

I was so excited when this book came out in the 80s. I couldn't finish it then, and haven't been able to finish it the other half dozen times I've tried since. I don't know why, but I just can't seem to get past page 43. #DNF #StephenKing17

I've always finished King's books, but it was a close run thing with Tommyknockers 😜

Josie Oh I've never even read of this one! 7y
DGRachel I loved Koko! 7y
Sweettartlaura @drokka did you read the rest of this trilogy? Might help you get through this one... 7y
drokka @Sweettartlaura I didn't know it was part of a trilogy. I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the information. 7y
Sweettartlaura Any time 😊. The first is called 7y
