It was to be the perfect wedding--until the bride disappeared. Annie Taft's wedding is four days away, and it will be one of the grandest anyone can remember in her small South Carolina town. Preparations are in order. Friends and family are gathering in anticipation. Everything is going according to plan. Except that Annie herself has vanished. Did she have second thoughts? Or has something much worse happened to the bride-to-be? As the days pass, the list of suspects in her disappearance grows. Could it be the recently released man a young Annie misidentified as her mother's killer? Could it be someone even closer to her? While her loved ones frantically try to track her down, they're forced to grapple with their own secrets--secrets with the power to reframe entire relationships, leaving each to wonder how well they really knew Annie and how well they know themselves.

“There is, she believes, purpose in every goodbye and every hello, in every win and every loss,in every rough patch and every smooth place”

And at times, you can feel all those things at once 💔

This is a pretty basic mystery, surrounding a woman disappearing days before her wedding, but I‘m giving it a pick because I liked it more than the last book I read by this author. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Feeling pretty meh in regards to this audiobook.

This is the first in the #summerreadingguide that I‘ve been disappointed with. I don‘t necessarily believe that a book must add to a genre to be good. That‘s impossible all the time. But there‘s nothing new here.

Perks: this is currently a kindle unlimited title so I didn‘t have to pay any extra to listen to it.

I really enjoyed this book. It‘s a tragic story of a mother and daughter that save others around them with their situations. Quick and easy read.

Beautiful cover, so-so book. I kept dozing off so it clearly didn‘t grab me and hold on.

Thank you NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for an Advanced Reader‘s Copy of this book. This book is set up a mystery about a woman who goes missing just days before her wedding. The author does a great job of putting all the right elements in, so this becomes a page turner. However, as the story progresses it fell a little flat for me. I was like that was it, really. Great Premise, ok execution.

Book_Fairy_Mary Just curious, do you blog about your advanced copies or do you just share reviews here & on netgalley? 6y
Lauren.Archer @book_fairy_mary I do not have a blog, but I am debating right now if I wam going to start a blog or a book tube channel of maybe both. I am definitely moving in that direction, just want to do it right.

Have you ever read a book and when finished thought, what was the point of this? That's how I felt reading this book. Let's start with Annie, the central figure of this book. She is completely unlikeable. She isn't very kind to those closest to her. The resolution is underwhelming and some plot points are completely abandoned. I didn't hated this book. It held my interest, I wanted to find out what happened but the story is completely forgettable.

A small town story set in South Carolina. Annie is about to get married but the murder of her mother years ago is now front and center because the person in prison for the murder is being released. The news of the wrong man being accused and imprisoned is overshadowing her wedding plans. A few days before the wedding Annie disappears. What secrets are being held in her hometown and who really killed her mom? A great novel by Whalen
