Wedding Guest: An Alex Delaware Novel | Jonathan Kellerman

"Jonathan Kellerman's psychology skills and dark imagination are a potent literary mix."--Los Angeles Times Psychologist Alex Delaware and detective Milo Sturgis unravel a shocking crime at a raucous wedding reception in this gripping psychological thriller from the #1 New York Times bestselling master of suspense. LAPD Lieutenant Milo Sturgis is a fine homicide detective, but when he needs to get into the mind of a killer, he leans on the expertise of his best friend, the brilliant psychologist Dr. Alex Delaware. While Sturgis has a knack for piecing together the details of a crime, Delaware can decipher the darkest intents driving the most vicious of perpetrators. And there's no better place for the doctor's analytical skills to shine than a rowdy hall full of young men and women intoxicated on life and lust . . . and suddenly faced with the specter of death. Summoned to a run-down former strip joint, Delaware and Sturgis find themselves crashing a wild Saints and Sinners-themed wedding reception. But they're not the only uninvited guests. A horrified bridesmaid has discovered the body of a young woman, dressed to impress in pricey haute couture and accessorized with a grisly red slash around her neck. What's missing is any means of identification, or a single partygoer who recognizes the victim. The baffled bride is convinced the stranger snuck in to sabotage her big day--and the groom is sure it's all a dreadful mistake. But Delaware and Sturgis have a hundred guests to question, and a sneaking suspicion that the motive for murder is personal. Now they must separate the sinners from the saints, the true from the false, and the secrets from those keeping them. The party's over--and the hunt for whoever killed it is on.

Highly recommend. A mystery woman is dead at a wedding. No one knows who she is. Milo and Alex muddle through to try and solve the mystery. This is an Alex Delaware story. Who is lying and how can they figure it out?

Finished this today and liked it. Interestingly, Kellerman took a character I hated at the beginning of the book and made me like her. A woman is found dead at a wedding, and Milo and Alex have to figure out if she was murdered and why, but no one at the wedding seems to know the dead woman. #audiowalk

For Pete‘s sake, Jonathan Kellerman — get your librarians right! While he got the librarian concern with privacy right, he got so much else wrong. At one point, a librarian tells Alex that a person he‘s asking about came to the library to read. Alex thinks to himself, “No kidding — what else would she be there for?” I yelled at him — out loud — “A lot, Alex. She could be there for a lot of other thing!” 😡 #audiowalk

KathyWheeler Oh — and that same librarian? She had no clue who the Hardy Boys were. I know Kellerman has her as young, but I have a hard time accepting that she wouldn‘t know this. 5y
BlameJennyJane @KathyWheeler yeah, now THAT is just silly... not knowing The Hardy Boys??? 5y

I walked twice today — the top picture is from home and the shorter walk is on Dauphin Island. Beautiful day, if a tad chilly. I like the guy who narrates Jonathan Kellerman‘s books, John Rubinstein; he‘s no Kobna Holdbrook-Smith but he‘s perfect for Alex and Milo. #audiowalk

During a wedding reception a woman is killed in a bathroom stall. No identification is found on the victim. And assigned to the case is Milo and Alex. Since there is no id on her they have to question all of the guests to find out her identity, but they are left with still no name. Loads of investigating is left for them.
It seemed to start a little slow but then it picked up and I was pulled in.

A young woman is found murdered at a wedding, yet no one knows who she is, definitely not a guest. Alex and Milo painstakingly chip away at the investigation and piece by piece try and solve the case. I really enjoyed it. Some twists but mostly a slow, deliberate path of hunting down clues to solve the case.

KathyWheeler I enjoy these books — especially on audio. When I finish my current audiobook, this one is up next. 5y
