1. I like surprises…if they‘re done right. Sometimes authors try too hard, and the twists feel forced.
2. The tagged book had such a shocking surprise that I had to go back and reread it several times.
3. I can‘t really think of any one author that I think of as always surprising me. I wouldn‘t want that from anyone anyway. If I expected a surprise, it wouldn‘t be a surprise.

Back in the 90s I read and enjoyed a lot of Dean Koontz. I really liked his style of writing. 20 years later and it‘s been a long long time since I‘ve read a Koontz book. The last one I read I did not like and I didn‘t care for this one either, finding it tedious and unnecessarily pedantic. Wondering if this author no longer appeals to my reading tastes, especially since this is not a new book, or if these were anomalies. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Suet624 I‘ve never read anything by him. 4y

Dean Koontz.....a master of suspense, goes above and beyond in this suspenseful thriller of Good vs. Evil.....among his best fiction, this reads like a memoir, the characters are well developed...but mysterious enough to keep your interest. Weaving 3 stories together, each unique and deep, the story never stops with its surprises.....loved Barty, and Detective Thomas Vanadium and Joshua.
Excellent book!! 4.5 / 5
And I learned 2 new words!!

I've had this on my TBR pile for some time......I usually enjoy Koontz. I haven't heard much about this one......anyone read it? Love the beginning.

Bookish.Leftist.Auntie I LOVE this book. I read it years ago and still think about it all the time. Probably my favorite DK, (maybe tied with Watchers, it's a close call). I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Idk why more people haven't read this one. 6y
WhatThePuck You can never go wrong with Koontz. I haven't read this one in awhile, but it's one of my favorites by him. 6y

Thanks @BookaholicNatty for hosting this #giveaway
Love:
From the Corner of His Eye by Dean Koontz - I've only read it once but loved it!
The Selection
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - My favorite of all the hp books. It's sad but I just love the whole thing.

Hate (Despise):
Allegiant - This book was the worst! They should have just taken the ending of Allegiant and put it on the end of Insurgent.

#NattysBookGiveaway

JenlovesJT47 Allegiant = 🤢👎🏻 7y
corycatelyn @melyndarae I stopped reading allegiant at that ridiculous part...took me forever to finish it...the movie is worse 😂 7y
melyndarae @corycatelyn I haven't even watched the movie yet. On top of it ending crappy, I didn't see Shailene Woodley as Tris. 7y

TheWordJar Ooooh! I love Dean Koontz! I think I have this on my bookshelves somewhere. In my house growing up, my mom read Danielle Steel (and the like) and Stephen King and Dean Koontz. I never got into the romances, but I love horror and thrillers! Thanks for the advice, and thanks for entering! 7y
melyndarae @TheWordJar I did a book report on it Junior year and everyone looked at me like I was insane. I've always been a huge fan of Dean Koontz and James Patterson. My book taste varies so much now but I definitely need to read more thrillers. I just prefer them to be scifi or something like that. I don't like the...so and so is a former fbi agent and never thought...blah blah blah. Lol. 7y

KathyWheeler This is my favorite book of his; however, I almost didn't read it. My daughter had the childhood cancer Barty had and no one who knew me warned me about this. I put the book down after the first sentence. Someone finally told me he got better, so I finished. I was glad I did. 8y
JoeStalksBeck @Smashlee yay! That's so awesome!!! 8y

Since I reviewed one of the DK books I did not care for as much, I wanted to offer up one of my favorites. I love this book. It was a bit slow to develop in the first several chapters. There are just so many facets to bring together. I still think about this book and the perspectives after several years. Quote from goodreads.

I picked this up from the library when I was still in high school not knowing. This book is one of my all time favorites. I was so drawn into the characters and their struggle. I have been a Dean Koontz fan ever since.

Murder, psychopaths and quantum mechanics. I cried twice and yelped at the end. This book is simply amazing .
