When a little boy plants a carrot seed, everyone tells him it won't grow. But when you are very young, there are some things that you just know, and the little boy knows that one day a carrot will come up. So he waters his seed, and pulls the weeds, and he waits ... First published in 1945 and never out of print, this timeless combination of Ruth Krauss's simple text and Crockett Johnson's eloquent illustrations creates a triumphant and deeply satisfying story for readers of all ages.

The Carrot Seed is an old story but is just as relevant as today as it was over 60 years ago. The boy in the story was told his seed would not grow but he pushed through what those around him said. The cute story accompanied by the easy on the eyes art style made for a great childrens book.

This is a cute story and the boy had taken much care of his carrot seed. Everyone said his seed wouldn‘t come up since carrots grow in the ground but he stayed hopeful.

The carrot seed by Ruth Krauss is a picture book that was published in 1945. Is about a little boy who planted a seed and waited to see if his seed would sprout. His mother and father and brother said his seed “won‘t come up.” He has hoped for days while he took care of the surrounding area around the seed. Then one day a carrot had came up just as he had hoped for.

#funfridayphoto I think it was this book that inspired me to be a gardener, back when I was still learning to read. Also loved Harold and the Purple Crayon.

Megabooks Harold and the Purple Crayon is another favorite gift or mine! I usually do it for 3rd or 4th birthday! 8y
