The compulsive new novel from the author of the Sunday Times Number One bestseller The Caller and Gallery of the Dead. AS ADDICTIVE AS A TV BOXSET! 'Every story one day comes to an end.' As roommates, they met for the first time in college. Two of the brightest minds ever to graduate from Stamford Psychology University. As adversaries, they met again in Quantico, Virginia. Robert Hunter had become the head of the LAPDs Ultra Violent Crimes Unit. Lucien Folter had become the most prolific and dangerous serial killer the FBI had ever encountered. Now, after spending three and a half years locked in solitary confinement, Lucien has finally managed to break free. And hes angry. For the past three and a half years, Lucien has thought of nothing else but vengeance. The person responsible for locking him away has to pay, he has to suffer. That person ... is Robert Hunter. And now it is finally time to execute the plan. What the reviewers are saying about Chris Carter: 'Carter has a background in criminal psychology and the killers at the centre of his novels are all the more terrifying for it' Mail on Sunday, chosen for 'If You Only Pack One' 'Carter is one of those authors who makes writing look effortless ... I couldn't put it down' Crime Squad 'An insanely good crime series. Extraordinarily well written, high quality and high drama all the way' Liz Loves Books 'An intriguing and scary thriller' Better Reading 'A gripping feast of thrills' Shots 'A gripping psychological thriller' Breakaway 'This is a chilling, compulsive portrait of a psychopath, and proves that Carter is now in the Jeffery Deaver class' Daily Mail 'Punchy and fast paced' Sunday Mirror 'There's a touch of the Patricia Cornwell about Chris Carter's plotting' Mail on Sunday

EadieB Now, after spending three and a half years locked in solitary confinement, Lucien has finally managed to break free. And he‘s angry. For the past three and a half years, Lucien has thought of nothing else but vengeance. The person responsible for locking him away has to pay, he has to suffer. That person ... is Robert Hunter. And now it is finally time to execute the plan. This is the 10th book in the Robert Hunter series. 3mo
EadieB It is not for the faint of heart as it is very gory. It is a psychological thriller that has a plot that kept me reading until the very end. I am now looking forward to the next book in the series. If you love psychological thrillers then you will love this book. 3mo
GinaKButler I‘ve never read these…should they be read in order? Thanks for putting them on my radar! 3mo

Andrew65 A brilliant series, but this one was about the best in the series so far. 3mo
Andrew65 @GinaKButler I think they are best read in order, but they stand up alone apart from this one, which follows on from An Evil Mind. (edited) 3mo
GinaKButler @Andrew65 Thanks for the info…may be adding this one to series love! 3mo
Andrew65 @GinaKButler It would be perfect. 3mo

This is the best book in the series. Lucian Folter is evil incarnate. It‘s unbelievable that he and Hunter were friends at Stanford. Now he wants revenge for being in prison for three years and makes Hunter‘s life (and those close to him) a living hell. #SeriesLove2023 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

#12booksof2022 Haha, not Michael, but Chris! For some reason my favourite books of this year are the rawest, grittiest, most gruesome serial killer books out there 🤷🏼🤷🏼🤷🏼🕵🏼👮‍♂️😱😆 This was my fave read in July ❣️

Andrew65 Think that says a lot about the choices of future books! 🤣 Great choice. 1y

OMG, I absolutely love and hate this book! It‘s is horrible! It‘s one of the worst books I have read from the point of view of horrendous murders and one of the worst, if not THE worst, serial killer. The book was so personal (for the protagonist), intense, and well-written, and I‘m not sure I‘ll be able to sleep tonight. I felt the chapters were not really in sync, otherwise perfect. How does Carter do this?

EadieB @Tove_Reads Ha-ha! Love it! 2y
Andrew65 He does write some of the most gruesome murders! 2y

Just borrowed this one. Can‘t wait to read it!!! Sounds absolutely amazing 🫣❣️😍🙃🥶😱 @EadieB @Andrew65

Andrew65 Think I‘d need to re-read An Evil Mind again first. 2y
Tove_Reads @andrew65 Loved it! Always good when the main character has a friend-nemesis from the past. Love books that has that personal touch 2y
Tove_Reads @andrew65 You don‘t have to read An Evil Mind first. Hunter is explaining everything to Garcia in the beginning, so you‘ll pretty much get the whole story. 2y

OMG best book in the series by far - and that‘s saying something! Lucien Folter is pure evil and Chris Carter takes him to a whole new level in this latest adventure. I have to admire his skill and determination all the while detesting his very being. Robert Hunter at his finest!

I don‘t think I could ever get tired of reading about Robert Hunter. This is one of my favorite series and Chris Carter is one of my favorite authors! This is one of the most personal cases for Hunter yet. The killer is targeting him for revenge and he won‘t stop until he gets it. I already can‘t wait for the next book in the series! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟!

Amazing writing from Chris Carter. Once again I got lost in the twisted, oh so devilishly delightful world of Robert Hunter and I absolutely can't get enough. I whole-heartedly wish that there will be more books in this series.

Hunter, an insomniac, with a connoisseur‘s likening for a fine Single Malt, is also the only person who really understands how Lucian‘s mind works……he knows how bad this is going to be…will he survive the game?

Amazingly immersive writing by Chris Carter and I loved every gloriously tense, gruesome moment…..and I can recommend this unreservedly..
