This book brings to light the many sides of poverty, depression, disabilities, single parenting, suicide, and the difficult choices we make in life. The book exposes all sides of the human condition leaving the reader, at times, angry, confused, hopeful, and proud. A wonderful book even through the tragic tale.

Getting ready to catalog this and opened to a random page. Sock it to me 😀
Great read. Though conscious of the fact that Young Harriet isn't meant to be a lovable character I never the less fell in love with her. I didn't connect as keenly with Irwin but found him intriguing as well. I liked the disfunction, drama, and all the colorful characters of the shangrila.
