I absolutely adore Robert Sheehan. His voice is delicious. Listening to him read this is the perfect antidote to a crappy day. What a sad story though 😢
Usually when people on Litsy talk about books making them cry, I can't completely relate. But earlier the kids wanted me to read The Happy Prince to them in our beautiful translation. And this book makes me cry EVERY TIME.. So there I was, sobbing, trying to finish the story 😊 Such a beautiful book but so sad, good for conversations about suffering and injustice I suppose - not exactly a fun bedtime read!

Stories like this are the reason I still love Classic short stories. I loved the concept. But again, this story has a bitter-sweet ending. Like it's the rule of classic literature to not give happy endings. I understand, I really do, that they just show reality. But don't know why they just make me over-sad.
