This was sweet and charming. Reminded me a bit of Strawberry Girl and the Little House books. Also made me yearn for the carefree days of childhood summers of bare feet, sticky hands from ice cream, and that magical quality summer had.

Three Strike Summer 3.5⭐ pub 2022 #MiddleGradeMarchBuddyRead on YouTube; enjoyable, but so many heavy adult themes and topics were in this book.
It was interesting to read these back to back. Both were about young, head strong girls set in the Depression era. Yet, they were so different because of when they were published.
pickThis was a fantastic summer read! I connected early with the description of drought and joy in rain. Then it went on with stories of family farm life and fair days that made me smile. I loved Garnet‘s spirit and wonderful family. Everything works out perfectly, but sometimes this kind of read is just an enjoyable comfort, even if it‘s not quite believable.

pickThis book had been in my huge pile of TBR for years and it became one of the books that told me to stop buying new books (or at least buy less), read and discover gem in what you already had (but shamelessly neglected). It is a beautiful book. The one that makes you feel good when you finish it at night and wake up feeling wonderful the next morning.
