This is a collection of Murphy's stories that appeared in various magazines and anthologies between 1979 and 1990. They are quite good, with vivid imagery, strong structure, and economic prose: most stories are about 10 pages long. My favorites are "Orange Blossom Time," in which a man falls in love with a woman unstuck in time; and "Rachel in Love," about a chimpanzee imprinted with the mind of a young girl.

"But bumblebees can't fly, by logical reasoning."
I don't know who needs to hear this, but this chestnut about beeflight being scientifically impossible is an urban myth. It is not true, has never been true, and will not become true through repetition. It is also something no biologist -- like our character -- would ever say.
This rant has been a service of TFW pet peeves bring your story to a screeching halt.
My #BookSpin list for May, in order. It's possible I might even get to number four this month.

My #BookSpin, #DoubleSpin #TripleSpin shelf for May. I'll be lucky to finish three so I won't aim for all 20, but I salute those who do.
