I've been avoiding the last few books in this series because I really disliked #5-6. But I enjoyed this one quite a bit. Although I have a hard time relating to Michael himself, I did relate to some of the situations he found himself in. And I must admit, it was nice to catch up with the Barbary Lane crew. It's been a long time.

EvieBee How are you liking A Gentleman in Moscow? It was one of my top reads last year. 4y
Blueberry @EvieBee I am rereading it for my f2f (now zoom) bookclub. I chose it for them because it is so good and thought a lot of people would like it. 4y

2-11-21: My 16th finished book of 2021! Unofficially book 7 in the Tales of the City series. This one is told through the point of view of one of the series most beloved characters, Michael, Mouse, Tolliver. It‘s over 20 years since the last story and Michael is now in his 50s and San Fran in 2005 is a very different place. It‘s a lovely story about family, both biological and chosen, and being in love while growing older. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍🏼📖#️⃣1️⃣6️⃣

How did I not know there were three more books in the Tales of the City series? I guess I missed them because they came out way, way after the others, which I read in the ‘90s. I finished this one yesterday, and the characters are still delightful. This is #7; moving on shortly to #8 and #9. Now I want to go back and read-read the whole series from the beginning. Which I can totally do at my leisure, because they are all on Scribd! 😀

I loved the first 5 Tales of the City books but the 6th was a disappointment. I did not like the person Mary Ann became after being a local celebrity went to her head. By the end of the book I quite actively disliked her. But this 7th book, set 20 years later, was just as enthralling as the first 5 books. I zipped through it in a day and a half, giving up some sleep to do so, something I don't have the energy for very often. But it was that good.
