As a mother of a daughter, I felt like this was an important read for myself. Inspiring, educating, and a reminder that the person you are is imprinted in the person you're raising. Hearing stories from RBG, Madeline Albright, Laura Bush, Geena Davis, Pat Benetar, Brooke Shields and so many, many more strong moms made me feel uplifted and a little less afraid in this crazy world of motherhood.

"There is tremendous pushback around the world against women for wanting more education, more visibility, more autonomy, more power, more freedom. That resistance has been manifested, tragically, by violence. It needs to STOP. We all need to be part of the solution."
"When you want something and someone in power says no, that's just the beginning of the conversation."

"Not only do I want my daughter to know that she can succeed; but that she can fail without being a failure, be hurt without being diminished, be embarrassed without being shamed."

"The suffering in our world is real. And nothing will ever change if we remain detached from other people and indifferent to their struggle."

"Try to make the world MORE just because one day you will let go of someone you love deeply and all you can do is hope and pray that the world is decent, kind, and fair."

Veering off track on my carefully planned, Type A driven audiobook plan to listen to this one. I needed something inspiring. And after this, I want a really funny one!

We've already been on a run and had breakfast. Now to add a little coffee and feminism.
I'm still getting through this book that I had won in a giveaway. It is good. I am finding many parts that speak out to me as you can see.
"...having a child is like wearing your heart outside your chest. You realize pretty quickly as a patent that the thing you live the tub the world is something you can't fully protect, no matter what. It's a kind of vulnerability that's almost too much to bear." (Pg. 19)
