A tense, gripping psychological thriller, with Hitchcockian overtones, perfect for fans of Gillian Flynn's GONE GIRL and Sophie Hannah. Lara Finch is living a lie. Everyone thinks she has a happy life in Cornwall, married to the devoted Sam, but in fact she is desperately bored. When she is offered a new job that involves commuting to London by sleeper train, she meets Guy and starts an illicit affair. But then Lara vanishes from the night train without a trace. Only her friend Iris disbelieves the official version of events, and sets out to find her. For Iris, it is the start of a voyage that will take her further than she's ever travelled and on to a trail of old crimes and dark secrets. For Lara, it is the end of a journey that started a long time ago. A journey she must finish, before it destroys her...

This was a really good thriller. It kept me guessing until the very end. Lara is married to what many would think is the “perfect” man, Sam. Lara, however, is bored. Because of this she takes a job in London although she lives in Cornwall. This is how Lara disappears.

Easy reading! I was drawn to this book after planning a trip on the real sleeper train. The story happens in two parts. One part spoken through the eyes of Lara, the
main character and the second, Iris, her friend. A good, solid story throughout however it did jump slightly ahead, especially at the end. I would have liked more of a 'meaty' ending but overall a pleasant read.

Awesome Book! Lots of plot twists and turns which kept me in OMG moments throughout. I definitely recommend this one.

daf_fields Yeah, I agree. It's rare that I am totally blindsided by a plot twist, but this one got me. 7y

A fast-paced, compelling & interesting thriller - just a really enjoyable audiobook :) With the exception of a truly atrocious (but mercifully brief) New Zealand accent, the narration was spot-on. Also, now I REALLY want to go on the sleeper train to London 🚂

Alfoster Ooohh, sounds so good! 7y

This is a fun one. Here we have a selection of bookmarks, my page illuminator, Dalek book light, 'from the library of' stamp, my Book Lender's Record Book, and a tissue box in case I'm reading a weepy book.

RealLifeReading That tissue box is just too awesome 7y
Melissa_J Where did you get the tissue box? I love it! 7y
Jhullie @RealLifeReading @Melissa_J my sister gave it to me last year for our 50th (we're twins). She gathered together loads of bookish gifts for me. 7y

This book is fantastic! Twists you don't see coming at all. Sounds cliche but us def in the realm of G. Flynn and P. Hawkins. I highly recommend it👍🏻📖📚😀

She can't do mystery or suspense. Too bad the book was supposed to be both.

Jhullie I just finished it and loved it. Lots of twists and unexpected turns. 7y
