The High King's Tomb
The High King's Tomb: Book Three of Green Rider | Kristen Britain
8 posts | 26 read | 9 to read
More than a thousand years ago the armies of the Arcosian Empire, led by Mornhavon the Black, crossed the great sea and tried to conquer the land of Sacoridia using terrible dark magic. Eventually Mornhavon had been captured, and his evil spirit imprisoned in Blackveil Forest, protected by the mighty D'Yer Wall; and in the centuries since the war's end, knowledge of the working of magic had disappeared from Sacoridia. Karigan G'ladheon was now a seasoned Green Ridera member of the magical messenger corps of the king. But during her first year as a Rider, a rogue magician had cracked the D'Yer Wall. The spirit of Mornhavon, sensing the weakness, had begun to wake, seeking vengeance. Karigan had managed to transport the spirit of Mornhavon into the future, buying valuable time for her king and country. But how far in the future was Mornhavon now? There was no way to tell. And though Karigan and her fellow Riders scoured the land searching for lost magical knowledge, they were unaware of a threat to their kingdom that lay far closer: the descendants of ancient enemies had spent generations honing their powers of dark magica force against which the Sacoridians had no defense. The High King's Tomb is the thrilling third installment of the Green Rider series.

It‘s been over a decade since I read this and I wanted to get back to the series so I‘m re-reading. But it‘s been even longer since I re-read the 1st 2 books so I‘m a little lost at the beginning (why Karigan is sad and angry for example). I‘m sure it‘ll come back to me as I go along.

humouress I like seeing POVs other than Karigan‘s (Alton, Lady Estora). It sometimes seems that everything hinges on her, so it‘s good to see that other people also have a part to play. 2mo

Still slowly trudging my way through this series. I was delayed by a very busy work trip, but I‘m back on track and halfway through the fourth book. Again, always happy to come back to this series, and it‘s been such a long time since I‘ve read it that I‘m almost surprised at some of the events taking place! 8/10

Another adventurous installment in the Green Rider series! The connections from earlier books are a joy to find. Even when it seems like the characters are having it “easy”, there‘s still world building and development happening. I adore these books and am very much looking forward to continuing the series!

The third book in the Green Rider series. They just get better and better.

SaunteringVaguelyDownwards Ooh, I'll have to look for them! I read the first one when it was a new release at the library when I was a teen and couldn't keep up when I went to college. 5y

I'm still rating this book as a "pick", but I will say, it goes VERY slow, however, the story is good and I totally appreciate the lead character! #greenrider #thehighkingstomb #kristenbritain #fantasy
