This is a family story, full of revelations, that reveal themselves as a hurricane ominously approaches. And the writing is beautiful 👍💕

This took me forever to get into, but I'm glad I stuck with it. Heartbreaking but beautiful. What gorgeous language. And never read this on an empty stomach.

I'm in it, and I like it, but damn it's depressing. No more depressing than what I usually read, really, but it's hitting me harder for some reason. It's making it tough to finish!!

DebinHawaii I have loved her other books but have not been able to get started with this one for some reason. 8y
PenguinInFlight She spoke to my modern literature class when I was in college, as she grew up quite close to my college. We read Arabian Jazz. She was brilliant and so nice!
