Second Nature | Alice Hoffman
8 posts | 16 read | 7 to read
From the New York Times best-selling author of The Dovekeepers, Second Nature tells the story of a suburban woman, Robin Moore, who discovers her own free spirit through a stranger she brings home to her perfectly ordered neighborhood. As Robin impulsively draws this beautiful, uncivilized man into her world-meanwhile coping with divorce and a troubled teenage son-she begins to question her wisdom and doubt her own heart, and ultimately she changes her ideas about love and humanity.

I want to preface this by saying I will 100% read Alice Hoffman again. I loved the premise: man raised by wolves found, Wolf Man meets girl, girl sneaks him out of hospital, teaches him how to be “civilized,” we learn who the real savages are. But…This book was just going in so many different directions, it did itself no favors. I don‘t even like being critical because she writes so beautifully. I‘ll say this: animals are better than humans. 😂☺️

Divorcée meets uncivilized man raised by wolves = magic in all kinds of ways! Weird but intriguing and you‘ll be driven to solve the mystery....

Just eh for me. The first half of the book was great with a family takes in a wolf man. The second half was just blah.

107 for 2016. I love Alice Hoffman but her books are usually a hit or miss with me. This was a hit. It took a little patience but once the action started happening, it avalanched to the end.

Being a couch potato today since it's the only day off I have in a week and a half. I'm sharing this day with the masterly writer Alice Hoffman. Anyone have any thoughts on this book? I'm only on page 30. #alicehoffman #secondnature #lazydayreading
