5 Very Good Reasons to Punch a Dolphin in the Mouth (And Other Useful Guides)
5 Very Good Reasons to Punch a Dolphin in the Mouth (And Other Useful Guides) | The Oatmeal, Matthew Inman
6 posts | 25 read | 9 to read
In Matthew Inman's New York Times best selling 5 Very Good Reasons to Punch a Dolphin in the Mouth (And Other Useful Guides), samurai sword-wielding kittens and hamsters that love .50-caliber machine guns commingle with a cracked out Tyrannosaur that is extremely hard to potty train. Bacon is better than true love and you may awake in the middle of the night to find your nephew nibbling on your toes. Inman creates these quirky scenes for theoatmeal.com, which launched in July 2009 and already has more than 82 million page views. In fact, every 15 to 30 seconds, someone Googles one of theoatmeal.com's creations. Now, 60 of Inman's comic illustrations and life-bending guides are presented in full-color inside 5 Very Good Reasons to Punch a Dolphin in the Mouth (And Other Useful Guides). Consider such handy advice as: 4 Reasons to Carry a Shovel at All Times, 6 Types of Crappy Hugs, 8 Ways to Tell if Your Loved One Plans to Eat You, 17 Things Worth Knowing About Your Cat, and 20 Things Worth Knowing About Beer.

The book was funny enough but too long and the humor got less funny as I moved through pages. Would make and excellent coffee table or rest room book.

Im literally addicted to reading these books. Even though it wasn't as funny as the cat one i just read there were some laugh out loud moments.

So I miiiiiight have made the mistake of going to The Book Thing again. But when the books are free, how do you NOT walk out with a box?! My husband was super excited to spot The Rookie; it's the first book on a series he's been wanting to read for a long time. I found a lot of non-white authors, so I'm excited about that. And what looks like a book on the science of bisexuality, which could either be interesting or really dry. We'll see!

BekahB I love the Oatmeal books! I keep them on the bookshelf in my bedroom so I can read something funny before I go to bed. 😄 8y
BeckyRoy This is my favorite Christopher Moore. One of my favorite books actually! I have not heard of the other three. I'll have to check them out. 8y
